NWFL: Ogbonda Takes Charge At Rivers Angels

Whyte Ogbonda has returned to Rivers Angels for a second spell as head coach, Completesports.com reports.

The experienced tactician was appointed on Wednesday to lead the Port Harcourt-based NWFL side, with Isaac Thomas Atonbere named as his assistant coach and Sunday Uduh taking charge as goalkeeper trainer.

Ogbonda Apologises For Previous Exit

Ogbonda expressed his delight at returning to the club and apologised to the Rivers Angels supporters and the Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Barr. Christopher Green, over the manner of his departure during his previous stint.

“First, I want to apologise to the supporters of Rivers Angels and to the Honourable Commissioner for Sports in Rivers State, Barr. Christopher Green, because they were not happy with the way I left the last time,” Ogbonda said.

“I want to tell them that I’m very sorry for the way I left. Now I’m back to the team.”

Delighted To Be Home

The returning coach also said he was pleased to be back in Rivers State after gaining experience with clubs across the country.

“I’m happy to be back to Rivers Angels. I have travelled across the country, and I’m happy to be back in my state,” he added.

Ogbonda previously guided the Jewels of Rivers to Federation Cup glory and came close to winning the league title during his first spell at the club.

He will now look to build on that success as he begins his second stint in charge of Rivers Angels.
