Sources: Raiders not planning Crosby trade as star DE wants to stay with Vegas

One of the hottest names at last year's NFL trade deadline is generating little buzz this year.

Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby does not appear to be going anywhere, league sources told ESPN.

Unlike last year, when Crosby openly wondered about his future in Las Vegas, this year he doesn't want to go anywhere and the Raiders currently have no plans of trading him, according to league sources.

To date, the Raiders haven't had any discussions this season with any teams about a potential Crosby deal, sources said.

In the days leading up to this year's Nov. 10 deadline, a team always could check in on Crosby and inquire about what it might take to try to trade for the five-time Pro Bowler.

But those potential calls have not yet occurred, and if they do, they are not expected to change the Raiders' stance. They certainly won't change Crosby's.

"Maxx absolutely does not want to leave Las Vegas under any circumstances," one source told ESPN this weekend. "His hope, though not in his full control, is that he remains a Raider for life."

This is what the Raiders also hope, though the NFL continually demonstrates that other teams have the ability to change a team's plans, as the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears proved this past week when they pulled off big trades of their own.

The Baltimore Ravens traded two first-round draft picks to the Raiders last offseason for Crosby, who ultimately failed his physical in Baltimore, nullifying the deal.

This season, the Raiders have the chance to get to .500 in the month of November for the first time since 2020, when they were 3-3. The Raiders (3-4) play in New Jersey on Sunday against the New York Jets, and they are counting on Crosby to try to wreak more havoc and help them have as strong a season as possible.

Just as Crosby seems to be entrenched in Las Vegas, so too is Kirk Cousins, who remains the Raiders' starting quarterback. The Raiders' plan continues to be to play Cousins as long as possible, and right now, they don't believe he is to blame for their recent struggles after a 3-0 start.

Cousins leads the NFL with 16 touchdown passes, is third in the league with 1,817 passing yards and has thrown only five interceptions through seven games.

The Raiders also would like a veteran quarterback to lead them with their upcoming schedule, according to sources. After Sunday's game against the Jets, the Raiders face a gauntlet of tough defenses: at the 49ers, home for the Seahawks, at the Denver Broncos and at the Cleveland Browns before a bye in Week 13.

Coming out of the bye, the Raiders have three straight home games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Broncos and Tennessee Titans.

The post-bye window could be a time for the Raiders to turn to No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza. But in the Raiders' perfect world, Cousins would finish out the season as their starting quarterback.

For now, the Raiders plans to keep Cousins as their starter as long as they can, and they also plan on keeping Crosby around to finish his career in Las Vegas.
