Somy Ali adresses Karisma Kapoor's link up rumors with Govinda and Salman Khan amid Sunita Ahuja's allegations: ‘No affair, they're very good friends'

Somy Ali has weighed in on the long-standing rumours linking Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, saying she never heard any talk of an alleged affair during her years in Bollywood. Her remarks come amid renewed interest in Govinda’s personal life following claims made by his wife, Sunita Ahuja, about an alleged relationship involving the actor and his co-star Komal Rani.

Why are Govinda’s alleged past link-ups back in the news?

Govinda and Karisma Kapoor were among Bollywood’s popular on-screen pairs in the 1990s, collaborating on several films that audiences continue to remember. Their on-screen chemistry also fuelled speculation about a possible romantic relationship off-screen over the years. The conversation has resurfaced amid recent allegations concerning Govinda’s personal life. Somy Ali, who worked with the actor during that period, has now shared her perspective on the speculation surrounding his alleged relationship with Karisma.

Somy Ali says she never heard rumours about Govinda and Karisma Kapoor

In a conversation with IANS, Somy was asked whether she had witnessed or heard about an alleged affair between Govinda and Karisma, or any of his other co-stars, during her time in the film industry.Dismissing the speculation about Govinda and Karisma, whom she referred to by their familiar nicknames Chichi and Lolo, Somy said, “Never with Lolo, never, not even once did I hear a rumour about Chichi having an affair with Lolo.

Not once.”Somy maintained that she had been part of the industry during that period and had not come across any such talk about the two actors.

Somy Ali on Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor’s relationship

Somy also spoke about Karisma’s equation with Salman Khan, with whom the actress shared screen space in several films. According to Somy, the two actors share a close friendship, but she never heard rumours suggesting that their relationship went beyond that.“And Salman has done a lot of movies with Lolo. He’s very close to Lolo.

They’re very good friends, and I know that there was no affair between Salman and Lolo. There was no affair between Chichi and Lolo. I know that because I was right there. I was in the industry. So, you know, when you’re deep down in that world, you hear it. You hear about it. I would not pay attention to any such things, as I do not have any right. If you want to be in a relationship with someone, it is your personal matter.

I am not one to judge you,” she said.Somy also emphasised that she did not believe in judging people for their personal relationships, adding that whom someone chooses to be with is ultimately their own decision.

Somy Ali recalls being a ‘lost teenager’ in Bollywood

Reflecting on her own experiences during those years, Somy admitted that she was still trying to understand herself and find her place in the film industry.“Lost teenager in the jungle. And I was still trying to figure out who I am and what I am doing here and what is going on,” she said.Somy shared screen space with Govinda in the 1995 film 'Andolan'.
