Isabelle Huppert Comedy ‘All About Corinne’ Sells To U.S. Ahead Of Toronto North American Premiere

EXCLUSIVE: Cohen Media Group has bought U.S. rights to Isabelle Huppert comedy All About Corinne ahead of its North American bow tomorrow at TIFF.

In Marc Fitoussi’s (Call My Agent!) film, screen legend and Oscar nominee Huppert stars alongside a stacked French and European cast including Sandrine Kiberlain, Anne Marivin, Emmanuelle Bercot, Diane Kruger, Ana Girardot and Vincent Dedienne.

The film, which originally launched at Locarno, is described as “a playful and affectionate look inside the world of French cinema, where ambition, celebrity and an enduring belief in one’s dreams collide.”

The deal was negotiated by Robert Aaronson, Executive Vice President of Cohen Media Group, with Charlotte Boucon for Indie Sales, which is handling international sales. Release date has yet to be set.

The official synopsis reads: “Corinne Maclou (Isabelle Huppert) is a background actor. She dreams of one day being more than an extra and stays confident her breakthrough is right around the corner. When she meets famous actress Sandrine Kiberlain, whom she befriends, Corinne hopes to achieve her goal. But will she be welcomed into the respectable family of French cinema?”

Kiberlain, Marivin, Bercot, Kruger, Girardot and Dedienne appear as versions of themselves.

The project reunites writer-director Fitoussi with Huppert after their collaborations on Copacabana and Paris Follies, as well as an episode of hit French series Call My Agent! Fitoussi directed six episodes of the show in total.

For Fitoussi, Corinne’s story grew out of a longstanding fascination with artists who continue pursuing their ambitions despite rejection and uncertainty. The filmmaker previously explored similar territory in his debut feature La Vie d’Artiste and his documentary The Extras, which followed the daily life of a professional background performer.

“All About Corinne is really a film about perseverance,” said Marc Fitoussi. “We all have ambitions — things we want to achieve, places we want to reach — and we have all experienced rejection or disappointment. I also wanted the film to pay tribute to extras and, more broadly, to actresses and the determination it takes not only to be noticed, but to remain in the game.”

Huppert will also be honored at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival with the TIFF Tribute Performer Award.
