A 55-year-old man has been arrested on charges of trafficking in persons following the rescue of a 21-year-old woman from a brothel in Rondebosch, Cape Town.
According to Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, the Friday arrest followed a search-and-seizure operation conducted on 27 August 2026 at an identified brothel, during which members of the Hawks and officials from the Department of Home Affairs searched the premises.
“A 21-year-old female, a foreign national, was found allegedly working as a sex worker,” Vukubi said.
“After investigation, she was identified as a victim of trafficking. She was later taken for a medical examination.”
A warrant for the suspect’s arrest was issued, leading to his apprehension in Goodwood.
He is expected to make his first appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 September.
