EPRA Cuts Diesel Price by KSh5 as New Fuel Prices Take Effect

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced the price of diesel by KSh5 per litre in its latest monthly review, offering motorists and businesses some relief at the pump.

Under the new pricing structure, diesel will retail at KSh217.86 per litre, down from the previous price.

The price of super petrol, however, remains unchanged at KSh214.03 per litre, while kerosene will continue to retail at KSh191.38 per litre.

The new prices will take effect from August 15 and remain in force until September 14, 2026.

Diesel motorists to benefit

The reduction in diesel prices is expected to provide some relief to motorists who rely on diesel-powered vehicles, as well as businesses that use diesel for transport and other operations.

Diesel is widely used by public service vehicles, trucks, agricultural machinery and generators, meaning changes in its price can have an impact beyond the transport sector.

The unchanged petrol and kerosene prices mean consumers using the two products will continue paying the same rates during the latest pricing cycle.

EPRA reviews fuel prices monthly based on factors including changes in international petroleum prices and other applicable costs. The authority then announces the maximum retail prices that oil marketing companies can charge during the subsequent month.

The latest adjustment will therefore determine fuel prices across the country from August 15 to September 14, 2026.
