Amazon MGM Studios Developing ‘Freddie The Fix’ Movie Based On ‘The Boys’ Creator Garth Ennis’ Horror-Noir Comics Series With Lawrence Lamont Directing

EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios is continuing its relationship with The Boys creator Garth Ennis as it is in development on a feature adaptation of Freddie the Fix, based on the Hollywood horror-noir comic series from The Boys and Preacher creator. One of Them Days director Lawrence Lamont is on board to helm.

Freddie the Fix is the inaugural release from Ninth Circle, the creator-owned horror imprint at Image Comics.

Kimberly Steward and Alex Foster will produce the film for K Period Media, alongside Kenya Barris for Khalabo Ink Society. Kalen Egan & Travis Sentell are writing the screenplay. Ennis, Jeremy Allen, Lamont, Adam Glass, Michael Bogner and David Stone will executive produce.

The film will follow Freddie, a fixer to Hollywood’s supernatural elite, a man with an almost magical gift for making incriminating things disappear.

The series was launched by Ninth Circle in December 2024 and set the template for the imprint: an oversized, complete-in-one-volume story built to stand on its own. Illustrated by Mike Perkins, the sold-out title was met with critical and consumer acclaim, drawing strong notices across the comics press. It established Ninth Circle — founded by Ennis alongside fellow creators Ram V, Marguerite Bennett, Joe Pruett and Glass, with Steward as lead investor and K Period Media partnering on select titles — as a destination for stand-alone genre storytelling. It is the first Ninth Circle property to move to screen.

Lamont most recently directed the Sony Pictures comedy One of Them Days starring Keke Palmer and H.E.R. Egan and Sentell’s recent credits include Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams and The Lunar Chronicles, set for release in 2028.

Up next for Barris and Khalabo Ink Society are several high-profile projects in various stages of development including Teyana Taylor’s directorial debut feature Get Lite starring Storm Reid, and a documentary feature exploring the life and career of multi-Grammy-winning artist Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.
