Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Switch 2 Port Divides Gamers

With Zelda fans looking forward to the long-awaited launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, which is expected to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 this November, it is no surprise that many of us are hoping that the same attention will be given to other entries in the beloved Nintendo franchise.

Of course, there have been plenty of remasters over the years, which makes sense considering that The Legend of Zelda franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, but modern-day remakes are few and far between. As such, entries such as 2006's The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess still remain stuck on older hardware.

Originally released for the Game Cube and Nintendo Wii, Twilight Princess became the best-selling game in the Nintendo franchise up until the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and is still regarded as one of the greatest video game releases of all time. Whilst The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD did launch back in 2016 for the Wii U, the title is yet to receive a remake on modern consoles.

However, according to one prominent leaker, a "new" version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess might be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2. In a recent podcast, leaker Nash Weedle had the following to say: "Zelda Twilight Princess (until not so long ago), I hadn't heard anything about it, but it seems a new version could arrive at some point... I had already commented a while back that I wasn't expecting either Wind Waker or Twilight Princess if they couldn't incorporate something more into them, and now with the Switch 2, it's possible. For Twilight Princess, strong rumors have reached me, but for Wind Waker, it seems to have been left in limbo."

Of course, it is always worth taking information like this with a pinch of salt, especially with no news of this from Nintendo directly. However, it would definitely make sense that a Twilight Princess remake would be on Nintendo's radar, but perhaps it wants to measure the success of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake first.

Nevertheless, this insider information has been met with mixed reviews from Zelda fans, who took to r/GamingLeaksAndRumors to share their thoughts.

"A fall Ocarina and a late spring [Twilight Princess] to wrap up the 40th anniversary of Zelda makes sense," one comment read. "Since Nintendo doesn’t exactly do calendar year celebrations, it seems with the Mario 40th and Zelda 40th."

Another said, "Alternatively, I mean, they're remaking Ocarina, and so I don't think it's that farfetched to think they might start doing the Resident Evil thing and just work their way through all of the 3D Zeldas in between new games eventually (though you'd think Majora would be the obvious follow-up after Ocarina)."

With other fans not willing to believe this rumor until it is officially confirmed by Nintendo, it seems as though we are back to square one when it comes to waiting for an official remake of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
