Ex-Felda GM charged over transfer of 16 land parcels

Former Felda general manager Faizoull Ahmad has been charged with deceiving the agency’s board of directors over the transfer of ownership for 16 parcels of Felda land in Jalan Semarak in 2014.

Faizoull, 66, claimed trial after the charge was read before sessions court judge Suzana Hussin.

He is accused of dishonestly concealing from the Felda board that a power of attorney, dated June 3, 2014, authorised Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd to transfer the titles of the 16 parcels involved in the proposed development of Felda lots at Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur.

In doing so, Faizoull allegedly induced the Felda board to agree to the power of attorney, resulting in the 16 parcels being transferred to Synergy Promenade and Synergy Promenade KLVC Sdn Bhd.

Faizoull allegedly committed the offence at Menara Felda on Sept 2, 2014.

The charge was framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 10 years’ imprisonment, whipping and a fine upon conviction.

Faizoull was granted bail of RM60,000 and ordered to surrender his passport and report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) once a month.

Deputy public prosecutor N Joy Jothi proposed bail of RM100,000 with additional conditions.

However, his lawyer Shukri Mohamad asked the court to reduce the bail amount to RM30,000, saying Faizoull had already paid RM100,000 in bail to MACC.

He also said his client had fully cooperated with the authorities since 2018, when he was charged with two offences before being acquitted by the Court of Appeal in November last year.
