Kacey Musgraves had the best time during her two-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden, including on Tuesday night (Sept. 1), when she finally got to sing her “Easy” duet with Troye Sivan live on stage for the first time. The Australian singer was a surprise guest during the second night of Musgraves’ MSG stand, popping out to perform the tune in brown leather pants with silver rivets down the front and a brown plaid shirt under a chocolate-covered vest.

The two circled each other on stage, singing, “I can’t even look at you/ Would you look at the space just next to your feet?/ The wood is warping/ The lines distorting/ This house is on fire, woo!/ Burning the tears right off my face/ What the hell did we do?/ Tell me we’ll make it through” as the crowd howled in excitement.

The onstage team-up comes nearly six years after Musgraves and Sivan dropped a remix of “Easy” featuring producer Mark Ronson and a 2020 Bardia Zeinali-directed video in which the pair played a couple of friends on the run. Sivan released the original version of “Easy” on his August 2020 In a Dream EP. The pair have a long history of collaborations, first getting together in 2019 for “Glittery,” the high-energy duet from The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show special, then again for “Easy” and now for the live debut of the song.

Sivan posted a fun backstage clip of their collab on TikTok cued to his song “She’s the Best,” in which the pair struck poses and slow danced next to each other while mouthing the lyrics “that girl, that girl, that girl, that girl, that girl.”

The night before, Musgraves paid tribute to late country icon Dolly Parton, who died last week at 80. Musgraves called Parton a “supernova of a person” and said she was “never gonna be over” the country legend’s death before performing a lively cover of Parton’s 1981 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “9 to 5.”

Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere tour will move on to Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena on Friday (Sept. 4).
