On a day when Cristiano Ronaldo left the Portugal camp after a rift with manager Jorge Jesus and fuelled speculation about his future, João Félix sealed a timely 4-2 win for Portugal against Denmark in Copenhagen.
Gonçalo Ramos, who has taken the 41-year-old forward’s place, set up João Cancelo’s opener, then responded with Portugal’s second goal two minutes after Mikkel Damsgaard equalized in the 23rd.
Rasmus Højlund drew Denmark level again in the 53rd and celebrated his goal with Ronaldo’s trademark ‘Siu’ celebration to keep the Danes in the hunt for a win.
But Vitinha scored his first goal for Portugal to restore the visitor’s lead with a near-post header to Bruno Fernandes’ free kick in the 67th.
Félix made sure of the win in the 87th.
