Sienna Spiro Becomes Youngest British Female to Top U.K. Singles Chart in 12 Years Thanks to ‘Great Expectation’

Pop superstar-in-waiting Sienna Spiro has landed her first No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart with “Great Expectation.”

The soul-stirring ballad dethrones Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” to claim the summit. The 20-year-old’s achievement makes her the youngest British female artist to earn a No. 1 since Becky Hill topped the chart in July 2014 with her Oliver Heldens team-up “Gecko (Overdrive).”

Spiro’s chart breakthrough has been building in the past year. The London-born singer first cracked the U.K. top 40 in October 2025 with the viral hit “Die on This Hill.” As per Official Charts Company data, the track climbed to No. 9 first in November and again in January, before she followed with a string of further top 40 appearances, including “You Stole the Show,” “The Visitor,” “Material Lover” and “Pure.”

“Great Expectation” — from Spiro’s debut album, Visitor — first entered the top 40 at No. 32 in July before steadily climbing the chart. The track reached No. 2 on the chart published Sept. 4 before completing the ascent and claiming the chart crown.

Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas’ slips one spot to No. 2 after hitting No. 1 for the first time on the Sept. 4 chart, and bringing Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s record-breaking reign with “Rein Me In” — which held strong atop the chart for 23 non-consecutive weeks — to a close.

“Movin’ to the Sun” by Hugel, Imael Angel and Ultra Nate follows at No. 3, while Stella Lefty’s “Boston” stays put at No. 4. The aforementioned “Rein Me In” rounds out the top five.

Elsewhere on the chart, Dua Lipa’s “Training Season” surges 11 spots to No. 7, returning the 2024 single to the top 10 amid continued social media virality. Tame Impala — aka Kevin Parker — scores his second U.K. top 10 hit as “Loser” rises to No. 10, joining “Dracula” in achieving the feat.

Fresh off a No. 2 debut for her album Prima on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, Slovakia’s Adéla pushes “Ain’t in LA” up 14 places to a new peak of No. 12. Ashe also posts a new career high with “Stop the Wedding!” climbing seven spots to No. 16 and breaking into the top 20 for the first time.

Meanwhile, Miguel’s 2010 R&B favorite “Sure Thing” returns at No. 27; the track previously peaked at No. 4 in 2023 after going viral on TikTok. Miley Cyrus’ new single, “Bass Persuades,” comes in at No. 31, earning her 27th top 40 hit in the U.K. Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” also continues its late-life chart renaissance, rising nine places to No. 29.

And a handful of acts notch new personal bests: Malcolm Todd’s “Earrings” rises to No. 13; Alyssa Grace’s “Bloodstream” reaches No. 14; and sombr’s “My Body Isn’t Ready” lands at No. 15. Noah Kahan, meanwhile, racks up new peaks with “Orbiter” at No. 26 and “Willing and Able” at No. 38.
