Villagers held a mobile tower technician captive for two hours in Fatehpur district

PRAYAGRAJ: In a bizarre incident, a group of villagers after being fed up over poor connectivity for allegedly past two years, not only made a technician of a telecom company captive but also tied him with the mobile tower for around two hours in Hardauli village of Fatehpur district on Thursday evening.After being alerted, cops posted at 112 rushed the spot and freed the technician from the clutches of villagers. On the complaint of technician, Adityabhan Singh, an FIR under section 127 (2) of BNS was lodged at Bindiki police station against unknown villagers.

Basawanpur (aung) resident, Adityabhan Singh in his FIR asserted that he went to Hardauli village on Thursday evening to check power supply. In the meantime, a group of villagers arrived at the spot and involved themselves into heated arguments over poor mobile connectivity.Victim said that one of the unknown villagers suggested that others tie him with the mobile tower, then only we will get better connectivity. Following this, villagers held a mobile tower technician captive and tied him to the tower. A video of the incident has also surfaced.Cops arrived at the scene after being informed by another villager, rescued the technician from their custody, and took him to the police station.

Villagers asserted that the poor connectivity was affecting phone calls, internet access and other online activities, causing inconvenience and financial losses to local residents.They also alleged that mobile users were paying high recharge charges despite receiving inadequate network service.However, sources pointed out that when villagers mounted pressure on technician to sort out their poor connectivity grievances, the tehnician himself advised the villagers to make him captive in order to take their appeal to higher ups of the telecommunication company.Villagers claimed that a private mobile company was installed in Hardauli village approximately two years back. At the time of installation, residents had hoped that the issue of poor mobile network connectivity would be resolved. However, the villagers allege that the network problem persists even after two years and there was none to listen to their grievances.A villager also recorded the video of the incident, which subsequently went viral on social media. The police learned of the matter after the video began circulating widely. Investigations are on.
