Kaizer Chiefs return with two matches in five days

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed they will visit Zambia to take on Red Arrows in the CAF Confederation Cup second round preliminary qualifiers. The game will be on Saturday 17 October at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 15:00.

Success over two legs will book a spot in the group stages, which is essentially the final 16 of the competition: Four groups with four teams, where the top two will qualify for the quarterfinals.

ANOTHER CAF CONFEDERATION CUP RUN

Coach Fernando Da Cruz’ team did not play the first preliminary round qualifiers thanks to the club’s CAF ranking. Arrows set to the Kaizer Chiefs date after beating Madagascar’s FC Rouge to advance to the second preliminary round.

The Zambian side won both legs of the tie with identical 2-0 scorelines, securing a comfortable 4-0 aggregate victory.

WHAT HAPPENEND IN AFRICA LAST SEASON?

Last season saw Kaizer Chiefs crashout in the group stages. They finished thrid in Group D behind Zamalek and Al Masry. Throughout the group stage, Amakhosi produced several impressive results, including a historic 2-1 victory over Egyptian giants Zamalek at FNB Stadium.

However, their continental campaign ended in heartbreak on the final matchday. Needing just a draw to reach the quarter-finals, Kaizer Chiefs suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Zamalek in Egypt, missing out on qualification by the smallest of margins.

The new campaign kicks off in Ndola next weekend. Kaizer Chiefs wil then host Red Arrows in the return leg. The date is on Friday 23 October 2026 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

BETWAY PREMIERSHIP GAME AGAINST STELLENBOSCH FC

First up, it will be the Betway Premiership game at home to Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday 13 October at 19:30 at the FNB Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs enter the fixture sitting 4th in the standings with 13 points, remaining one of the few undefeated teams in the league after securing three wins and four draws from their opening seven matches.

Their success is built on an aggressive attack that has netted 12 goals, though a high number of stalemates has slowed their momentum.

Conversely, Stellenbosch FC occupy seventh place with nine points, carrying a more volatile record of two wins, three draws, and two defeats from their seven games. While the Maroons have struggled for consistency upfront with just eight goals scored, their defensive unit remains incredibly disciplined, having conceded only seven goals all season.
