Sydney Sweeney is one of the most popular and compelling actors working today, and one of her most overlooked films of 2024 deserves to be seen on streaming. Sweeney's career has been full of hits and misses, breaking through as Cassie on the HBO hit series Euphoria before starring in several box office disappointments like Madame Web.

Thankfully, there have also been a fair number of hits in Sweeney's body of work, and the star has many exciting upcoming movies. This list includes a Gundam movie for Netflix, in which she will star alongside Noah Centineo, as well as a sequel to the biggest hit of her career, which will also star Kirsten Dunst and Brittany Snow.

The Housemaid was a huge hit in theaters and on various streaming services throughout the past year. This sexy and exciting thriller leaned into Sweeney's strengths and helped to create one of the most memorable movie experiences of recent years, telling a compelling story filled with all kinds of unexpected twists and turns with a fantastic cast, including Amanda Seyfried.

With that in mind, Sweeney has already built up a great body of work with several underseen and underappreciated projects. Excellent films like Reality definitely fit into this category. However, it is one of her most star-studded and compelling works, from director Ron Howard, that absolutely everyone needs to see on streaming.

Sydney Sweeney And An A-List Cast Shine In Ron Howard's Eden

Ron Howard's Eden is one of 2024's most compelling and underseen films. The fantastic director, known for projects including A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13, put together a tremendous story about an idealistic group who choose to move away from the machinations of contemporary society and build their own colony on an uninhabited island.

The film, which draws from a true story, takes several dark turns from there. With people drawn from different places, including a wealthy Baroness who wishes to build a luxury hotel, tensions rise, and dark events begin to occur. With bizarre twists and turns in Eden's crafty story, the film comes together as a thrilling and compelling experience.

Much of the film's success lies in its tremendous cast. Jude Law and Vanessa Kirby play the island's first inhabitants, and they are joined by many other memorable stars. Daniel Brühl, Sydney Sweeney, and Ana de Armas soon join the burgeoning colony, each appearing with unique motivations of their own.

Balancing such a fantastic and star-studded cast is certainly a difficult task, but Ron Howard is the perfect director for the project. With a decades-long career in Hollywood as both an actor and a director, Howard does a fantastic job shaping the film's story into something that is immediately compelling and original.

Eden Is Worth A Second Look On Netflix

Eden is a strong film that was sorely overlooked upon its initial release. The film's Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 58% may have caused many viewers to overlook its genuine strengths in telling a thoughtful and unusual story with a fair share of ugly brutality and incredible twists and turns.

Granted, Eden is not for everyone. The film is intense and is surprisingly thoughtful. Packed full of heady ideas that often work, Eden does not condescend to its audience, and instead tells a uniquely unusual story at its own compelling pace. Because of this, it has remained overlooked on the streamer.

Yes, Eden is not a perfect film, and its surprisingly complex ending may have left some audiences confused after seeing it in theaters. However, returning to its unique story on streaming is the perfect place to dive into the complex and curious story.

Backed by strong leads and great chemistry between its performers, the film is a perfect watch now that Eden is streaming on Netflix. In its first watch, and in subsequent rewatches, the deep and complex story continues to have more and more to offer.

Sydney Sweeney's lasting place in Hollywood is still being determined, but Eden represents a step in the right direction for the young star. As an R-rated thriller, it fits in perfectly alongside other excellent offerings from Sweeney, including the 2021 Prime Video film The Voyeurs and last year's The Housemaid.

R-rated thrillers have been the perfect place for Sweeney. As a gorgeous and provocative young star, these films are exciting projects that complement her larger brand. She has made a name for herself as a celebrity and as a strong performer alike, and has shown incredible skill in infusing her complex thriller roles with believable humanity and vulnerability.

Sydney Sweeney is fantastic in R-rated thrillers, including Immaculate, Nocturne, and Echo Valley. The best of these films have used Sweeney effectively to construct believable and relatable characters, providing the audience with a great entry point to the worlds being built on screen.

What's Next For Sydney Sweeney?

Sydney Sweeney looks over her shoulder in The Housemaid

The future for Sydney Sweeney looks incredibly bright. Following The Housemaid's box office success, which earned $400 million globally, that movie has been turned into a franchise. The Housemaid's Secret, based on Freida McFadden's sequel novel, is set to release in theaters in December 2027.

In addition, Sweeney has many other projects in various stages of development. Her upcoming Gundam movie for Netflix, now in post-production, has the potential to be an enormous hit for the streamer, and could serve as an excellent Transformers replacement with its gigantic mechs and incredible robot action delivered on an enormous scale.

In addition to these, Sweeney has already filmed The Custom of the Country, an adaptation of Edith Wharton's popular novel. That film was written and directed by Josie Rourke, best known as the director of Mary Queen of Scots

Sweeney's name is linked to all kinds of other projects, although the rest are in various stages of pre-production. A Split Fiction movie, a Sleepy Hollow movie, and even a new version of Barbarella directed by Edgar Wright are among her known projects that could come together soon.

Sydney Sweeney's future in the industry is bound to be incredible, but it is also important to look at the fantastic films that she has already starred in. Eden is one of the best movies of her career to date, and deserves to be watched on streaming.
