Coronation Street to reveal secret link between Christina and Lucy's late mum

Coronation Street's Christina Boyd is left horrified next week, when the identity of a Shuttleworth's customer leaves her shaken. But why does it matter to her? All will be revealed…

The story twist kicks off at the funeral parlour, as George Shuttleworth teaches Christina how to use the company laptop to access a client file.

When Christina sees the name 'Rachel Parkinson' pop up, George explains that Rachel was mum to Sally and Tim Metcalfe's foster child, Lucy. A struggling Christina tries to hide her shock – then legs it out of the building…

"Christina is shaken to the core," explains our Coronation Street spy. "For whatever reason, reading Rachel's name and finding out that her daughter is Lucy, sends her into a right spin.

"The question is, why do Rachel and Lucy have anything to do with Christina? That's a secret you'll have to wait to find out…"

To kick off the week, George delights Christina with the news that he is promoting her to assistant funeral director. Chuffed to bits, Christina pulls George in for a smooch, while Todd Grimshaw looks on and offers his congratulations.

A celebratory drinking session soon gets under way, but when Christina notices Bernie Winter-Alahan's absence, she starts to mull over her friend's recent family news.

Afterwards, George declares that children cause nothing but concern, which leaves Christina deep in thought. What's going through her mind?

Later, Christina watches George chat with Tim and Lucy about the plaques they could purchase for Lucy's deceased mum. This leads George to show Christina how to view client files on the computer, but it ends in disaster when Rachel's name appears on the screen.

Eventually, Christina plucks up the courage to speak truthfully with George, who lends an ear without judgement.

"Christina opens up to George about her complex history," reveals our source. "George knows the right thing to do is sit tight and listen, so he does exactly that.

"Christina is really appreciative of him hearing her out, and George makes it clear that he is there for her no matter what. It's a lovely moment during a tricky time for Christina."
