Dutton Ranch is set for an exciting new release in a few weeks.
Taylor Sheridan has created an expansive TV franchise with core Western sensibilities. While standalone shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Landman, and, more recently, The Madison have built their own following, it's safe to say that his crowning jewel remains Yellowstone and its expansive world. 2026 has been big for the universe, as Sheridan has officially continued the Duttons' legacy with a couple of new sequels.
After Luke Grimes' Marshals opened this new era of Yellowstone on CBS back in March, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser followed it up several weeks later with Dutton Ranch. Marking a new beginning for Rip and Beth in Texas, its first batch of episodes focused on the couple getting used to their new environment and establishing their presence in an already existing world. Expanding the universe came with the introduction of the Johnsons and the complications brought by their own farm. Dutton Ranch was an immediate hit for Paramount+, making its season 2 much-anticipated.
Ahead of its return for its sophomore year, however, Dutton Ranch is coming back with an exciting new release on November 17 (via Walmart), with the roll-out of its complete first season on Blu-ray. Summarizing the couple's first cycle in Texas is the synopsis for the new offering that reads: "Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler fight to survive on their cherished 7,000-acre ranch amid tough times and stiff competition, while ensuring young Carter becomes the man he's supposed to be." At this point, no additional information is given if there will be bonus scenes or featurette included, although Blu-rays normally have them.
Throughout Dutton Ranch season 1, it felt like Beth and Rip were simply dealing with one crisis after another. Initially, it seemed like Beulah and the Johnsons were the show's villains, as they try and sabotage the couple's attempt to establish their own ranch. In the end, however, it was revealed that Dutton Ranch's true antagonist was far more dangerous, as John III's heirs were apparently up for a Mexican crime boss that even the Johnsons fear. Moving forward, they will have to come face-to-face with their new foe, following Carter's abduction.
Admittedly, this Blu-ray release may not be of interest to some. After all, all nine episodes of Dutton Ranch are readily available to stream on Paramount+ and even had a special broadcast on Paramount Network. The bonus footage and extra behind-the-scenes bits might not exactly be enough to convince those to pick up a copy. That said, as the entertainment business model shifts to renting and streaming, having a physical copy of shows and movies is the best way to guarantee ownership of them.
Unlike Marshals, which is confirmed to debut season 2 as part of CBS's fall 2026 lineup, no official news yet on when Dutton Ranch will roll out its sophomore year. Because it's on streaming, its release schedule is more volatile. However, if Sheridan and Paramount+ commit to bringing it back every year, it will likely return around the same time as season 1 debuted.
