Ryan Gosling & Zach Shields Duo Dead Man’s Bones Returns With New Song Plus Music Video Starring Rain Spencer And Noah Jupe

Spooky season is about to reach its peak, and Ryan Gosling’s band Dead Man’s Bones are contributing to the holiday spirit this year with a new song and music video.

The rock duo comprising Project Hail Mary star Gosling and Godzilla: The New Empire producer Zach Shields released their first and only self-titled album in collaboration with the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir in 2009, so their new single “Lost in the Night” marks the first song they’ve released in 17 years.

Along with the song comes a music video starring Rain Spencer (The Summer I Turned Pretty) and Noah Jupe (Hamnet, Avengers: Secret Wars). The clip opens with Spencer in a graveyard, walking through it with a black and white filter. Then it cuts to Jupe, laying on a bench.

Gosling, who performed a rendition of his Barbie hit “I’m Just Ken” at the 2024 Oscars, has Star Wars: Starfighter coming out next year and Marvel’s new Ghost Rider movie also slated to arrive in 2028. The actor demonstrated his singing (and dancing) skills in La La Land (2016) as well.

Shields is penning the script for the Gladys prequel film to Weapons (2025) with Zach Cregger. Prior to producing Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire, he co-wrote Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Krampus for Universal with Michael Dougherty.

He previously collaborated with Spencer on the play Dad’s Leg, which also starred Emily Althaus and Ted Monte and ran at Los Angeles’ Hudson Theatre from Feb. 20 to March 2. The dark comedy watches two estranged sisters (Spencer and Althaus) fight over their father’s soon-to-be-amputated leg while rehashing their past.

Spencer has boarded The Maid of Orleans with filming underway in Paris on the project from Sarah Elizabeth Mintz, which marks a reunion between Spencer and the Good Girl Jane director. The actress also recently wrapped production on the Anne Hathaway-produced feature Little Five opposite Ariana Greenblatt. She currently can be seen starring in the Jane Campion-produced Big Girls Don’t Cry, which was directed by Paloma Schneideman and premiered at Sundance this year. She also has a return to the role of Taylor Jewel in the Summer I Turned Pretty movie for Amazon MGM on the horizon. Also with Amazon, Spencer is set to star in the adaptation of E. Lockhart’s Genuine Fraud.

Before that, Spencer and Jupe collaborated in a two-hander theatrical workshop for a play Shields wrote. Jupe has Avengers: Secret Wars coming out in 2027, in which he plays a key role.

The band’s Instagram first teased new music Oct. 22, and Gosling’s partner, actress Eva Mendes, collaborated on the Instagram post to boost the promo video.
