Michelle Pfeiffer Clarifies She “Never Said” She’s Retiring: “The Most Ridiculous Thing”

With new seasons of The Madison and Margo’s Got Money Troubles just around the corner, Michelle Pfeiffer isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
After a passing comment that she “never wants to star in another movie,” the 3x Oscar nominee clarified that she’s not retiring, but was talking about her preference for being part of an ensemble.
“No! I mean, it’s the most ridiculous thing,” she said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “They’re always saying that I’m retiring. I never said—no. Where does it say ‘I’m retiring’? No! No, all I said was I really love working with an ensemble cast.”
Pfeiffer continued, “I knew the minute it came out of my mouth, and I said something about, ‘I never want to star in another movie,’ and they took that out of context. And of course I want to star in another movie!”
Earlier this month, Pfeiffer appeared on an Apple TV finale, where she explained her love for ensemble pieces. “I never want to star in another movie, I swear to God. I only want to do ensemble pieces. It’s so much more fun, I love it so much,” she said.
In addition to starring as Stacy Clyburn in Paramount+’s The Madison, which was renewed early for Season 3, Pfeiffer is also returning for Season 2 of Apple TV’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles as Shayanne Millet, which earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
