Netflix has been delivering with its guilty-pleasure drama, My Life with the Walter Boys. Based on the novel by Ali Novak, the series follows Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) as she trades Manhattan for the mountains and is taken in by the Walter family following the tragic death of her parents and sister. Along the way, Jackie finds herself in a complex love triangle with brothers Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole (Noah LaLonde). Now three seasons in, love continues to engulf the denizens of Silver Falls.
A major draw of the world is the ever-shifting romantic entanglements between the central trio and their friends. But despite the lows, My Life with the Walter Boys has showcased some brilliantly romantic highs. Though there are quite a few endearing and touching scenes, these moments represent a swathe of romantic moments throughout the three seasons. While we could center it solely on Jackie, Cole, and Alex, we must share the wealth between the other characters and their sweet scenes too.
9 Dylan's Confession to Kiely
Season 2, Episode 10 "Showdowns and Sparkles"
Art doesn't always imitate life. Hollywood has a rich history of pairing unlikely people together from different walks of life. The clique dilemma may not seem believable to some, but seeing how opposites attract is sometimes the beauty of a story. Such is the case for Dylan Newsome (Kolton Stewart) and Kiley Zhou (Mya Lowe). One is a privileged football star, and the other works at Monty's, pulling herself up by her bootstraps. At the start of Season 1, they are completely out of one another’s orbit. Slowly, through school and the pizza place, they find out there may be some magnetism. That is after Kiley gets over the shock that Dylan even knows who she is. The two meet in wood shop class and begin their shocking show-burn dynamic. As they begin to learn about one another, Kiley becomes the confidant to whom he opens up.
As she serves as his emotional support after his failed drug test, she begins to ground him. She reminds him that he is his own person and doesn’t need his dad to solve all his problems. For Kiley, he allows her to let loose. Having been friends with Alex since kindergarten, there'd always been a push-and-pull tension, but with him emotionally and romantically unavailable, Dylan slipped into the void she had opened. She begins to enjoy herself with Dylan around. At the Sparkle Festival, they catch each other’s eye, where he admits he's ready to be his own person and she was right all along. He then happily blindsides her by admitting, "I think you're pretty cool. And I think I'm pretty crazy about you." As he confesses, the lights illuminate as he moves in for a kiss for all to see. Including Alex. They are greeted with a round of applause as a new couple officially emerges.
8 Will and Hayley's Wedding
Season 1, Episode 10 "Happily Ever After"
My Life with the Walter Boys was desperate to ensure a happily ever after for at least one couple by the end of Season 1. The younger Walter siblings had their own rollercoaster relationships, so all eyes were on Will Walter (Johnny Link) and Hayley Young (Zoë Soul). They represented genuine love and were eager to put an official stamp on their relationship, but in the most relatable storyline, they were simply not ready. He was working in real estate. She was working in a local café and studying hard for her master's degree. Their love and adoration were present, but money was certainly in the way. They couldn't fund their perfect wedding, so they kept pushing it off, which caused strife in their relationship as their life goals created friction and communication issues. But after spending time apart, they realize they can work through anything, and it's finally time to say, "I do."
With a race to pull a wedding together, Jackie serves as the wedding planner that would culminate in heartfelt personal vows on the Walter family farm. The wedding serves as a romantic scene in the series because it proves that love can endure despite even the rockiest conditions. During their momentary breakup, they realized they were each other's people, much like George (Marc Blucas) and Katherine (Sarah Rafferty) are for each other. They represent the next generation of enduring love. In their vows, Will refers to Hayley as his home; Hayley promises to grow alongside him. It's a beautiful ceremony that unites the entire Walter clan, while also supercharging the season's big love triangle cliffhanger. Though we don't see much of the happy couple beyond Season 1, with Season 4 likely seeing them in Atlanta, their relationship is an important beacon for the siblings.
7 Cole Takes Jackie to the Lake House
Season 1, Episode 4 "Nineteen"
Season 1 proved itself addictive as My Life With the Walter Boys hit the ground running regarding Jackie and her Walter brother plight. Though Cole was technically both on and off the market due to lack of commitment and logistical woes, Cole wanted to ensure the new girl in town only had eyes on him. Seen as the bad boy, Cole had heart and emotion inside. His way of showing it needed some refinement. During their brief breakup in the fourth episode, Jackie is mourning her late sister's birthday. A well-meaning Cole convinced Jackie to skip school and join him and his friends on a trip to the lake house. Though there is tension between Jackie and some of the girls, Cole begins to lay down his walls. But it meant poking holes into his pride first.
The day at the lake allows Jackie to let go of her heavy responsibilities and perfectionist mindset by finding a safe emotional bubble away from the ranch. Things take a turn during a high-stakes game of Truth or Dare. With a rule in place that allows players to kiss the person to their left instead of taking a turn, Cole's not ready to share the truth about how he feels about losing his football number and spot to Dylan. Rather than tap into his feelings, he would rather risk nearly kissing Jackie. While it doesn't happen, the scene officially established the romantic chemistry between Jackie and Cole. The manner in which they look into one another's eyes is only stopped by Jackie's projectile vomiting. Now, that part is not romantic; it's how he takes care of her after that that establishes the crucial turning point.
6 Nathan and Skylar's Song Gate
Season 1, Episode 7 "Small Town Rumors"
My Life with the Walter Boys is an important teen drama because of its strong representation of LGBTQ+ characters. While it's not an entire town filled with queer teens, the Walter family has an out child in Nathan (Corey Fogelmanis), who is treated like everyone else by the family and the town. Now, this is an example of "if there are two gay kids, they certainly would be romantically tied." It's an easy plot point, but in a small town where you have someone you can relate to, it's not surprising Nathan and Skylar Summerhill (Jaylan Evans) would be the gay couple in school. They're not necessarily an opposites-attract combo; more so, one individual is more in tune with their feelings. Here, it's Nathan who falls deeply for Skylar. All he wants is his attention, so Nathan goes all in.
Nathan's identity revolves around music, so in his mind, an original song was the way to Skylar's heart. He writes "Light Up the Sky (Skylar's Song)," which serves as his romantic confession. The song reflects Nathan's feeling of being transformed and awakened by Skylar's presence in his life. At first, it does not go over well. Skylar is freaked out by the intensity of the grand gesture. He pulls away and ghosts Nathan. After Nathan suffers a health scare with his epilepsy, Skylar is convinced by his friends that he handled the situation poorly. It ultimately leads to a conversation in which their close friendship blossoms into a true romantic connection. The scene, dubbed "Song Gate," remains an incredibly decisive moment as both sides of the argument are valid and understood. But if someone wrote me a song, set the wedding date, I'm all in!

Season 3, Episode 10 "The Beautiful and the Damned"
If there's one thing that Jackie is, she's overwhelmed. She's a young woman going through a lot, and nothing ever goes perfectly according to plan, but she's also not someone who seeks out assistance. Hoping to bolster her resume for college and eager to generate a place for teens to escape, Jackie's Season 3 focus was on establishing the community space in town. It was also her way of escaping the distraction of Cole. Upon the discovery of a secret speakeasy space, it became a race to get it prepared before the grand opening. Unfortunately, a broken radiator pipe floods the building just a week before Jackie's big event, threatening to shut it down completely. In swoops Cole to the rescue. Even though Cole had already broken up with Jackie at the urging of her Uncle Richard (Alex Quijano) and her New York flame Eliot (Naveen Paddock), Cole still deeply loves Jackie and wants the best for her.
In his mind, he was still under the impression that he was holding her back from achieving her goals. Her goal was the community space, so Cole made her dream a reality. He worked behind the scenes, even reaching out to her uncle for financial support. Cole doesn't fix the space to manipulate Jackie into taking him back or to show off; he does it entirely in secret. Cole genuinely wants to see her succeed, showcasing the unconditional love he has for her. He'd helped her in the past, including getting people to show up for the car wash and the vintage fundraiser, but this selfless act showed immense growth. Of course, Jackie finds out from Alex that his brother masterminded the venue-saving, causing her to reevaluate the truth behind the breakup. Unfortunately, Cole's accident serves as the major cliffhanger before acknowledgment can be made.
4 Danny and Erin's Rain Dance
Season 2, Episode 5 "A Night to Remember"
Let's face it, small town romance is inevitably messy and oddly convenient. Perhaps the most shocking romance in all of My Life with the Walter Boys is between Danny Walter (Connor Stanhope) and Erin Collins (Alisha Newton). It's an odd coupling, mostly because Erin is Danny's twin brother's ex-girlfriend. Once you get past that, the two become one of the purest pairs as they find a genuine connection through a shared love for acting and theater. They begin a secret romance, mostly out of fear of awkwardness from Cole, but once they realize hiding was not worth it, their relationship flourishes. They spend much of their time tiptoeing around, but together, it's a companionship built on genuine mutual respect and adoration.
It's truly a night to remember, as the teens get a chance to have a school dance. It's not the dream dance that Jackie dreamed up, but she’s just happy it happened. As are Erin and Danny, who get to share their romance out in the open. Only it's all busted when Cole gets into a fight, causing Danny to rush by his brother's side, leaving Erin alone. Though one might think she was overreacting, he acknowledges her pain of feeling ignored. So, with the dance ending early, he makes things right by turning up the music in his car and giving the couple another dance. But nothing is more romantic than a dance in the rain! Their tender moment is sealed with a kiss, giving it a classic romance aura. Danny is a better boyfriend than Cole would ever have been. Even though they are about to embark on a long-distance relationship that may include a wedding first, Danny and Erin are the Walter couple to champion.
3 Jackie and Cole's Romantic Cliffhanger
Season 2, Episode 10 "Showdowns and Sparkles"
Nothing ever goes according to plan when love is involved. Season 2 saw the Walter boy love triangle in full effect. Jackie returned to Colorado after fleeing to New York, where she tried to put clear boundaries between her and Cole. It allowed her to embark on a secret relationship with Alex, which we'll discuss shortly. But even though they seemed to be the golden couple, there were still mutual feelings between Jackie and Cole. She maintains some closeness with Cole as she tries to help him with his SATs and get his life back on track. Being in proximity to him, Jackie knew it was Cole all along. With both boys having strong feelings for her, Jackie doesn't do the best job at keeping her own thoughts at bay. Not that she was playing them against each other; she simply couldn't own her feelings and make a genuine decision.
In the Season 2 finale, Jackie finally admits that she’s in love with Cole despite loving Alex. Cole admits that he knew about Alex and Jackie, but it didn't stop him from still desiring her. He calls her out for hiding her true feelings for him. Overwhelmed with emotion, Jackie tearfully admits she loves Cole back, though she notes that he makes her life feel too unpredictable. By openly admitting her feelings, she lets her passion explode as she can no longer deny it. Of course, her admission is overheard by Alex just as Cole moves in for a kiss. Before the love triangle fallout can commence, word arrives that George Walter has suddenly collapsed, with an ambulance arriving at the ranch. Though it was a heartbreaking cliffhanger, the giant admission was a major turning point for Jackie, Cole, and Alex, setting up the Season 3 action.
2 Alex and Jackie's Official First Kiss
Season 2, Episode 6 "After the Dance"
Whether you're Team Alex or Team Cole, Jackie is one lucky lady. Having both Walter boys eager for her hand isn’t necessarily a terrible thing. While Cole's romance is rooted in passion, her romance with Alex is built on tenderness. Upon returning from New York, Jackie tries to do her own thing as Alex throws himself into the dangerous rodeo training. Jackie eventually reveals why she left Silver Falls, creating a further rift between her and Alex. But, as we've learned, tragedy can unite people. Following a barn fire, two horses escaped, including Alex's beloved Murphy. Seeing Alex in pain, Jackie races into action.
Jackie crafts a map and a timeline for when they can go search for Murphy, but Alex is still traumatized from Jackie's admission. Alex feels discouraged and snaps at Jackie, telling her they do not need her to tell them how to handle their own land. Jackie stops at nothing to ensure Murphy returns home safely. And as miracles go, Jackie successfully finds him. Grateful and still harboring deep feelings, Alex tells Jackie he is still in love with her. In her room, their romance reignites as they share a passionate kiss, officially launching their secret relationship. Though the two had had some young love moments, including an almost kiss while drunk, this one was the one that solidified the emotions. Sadly, if you're Team Alex, this was just a blip in Jackie's growth arc.
1 Jackie and Cole's Waterfall Confession
Season 3, Episode 1 "Homecoming"
If there's one thing that My Life with the Walter Boys does excruciatingly well is offer sensational picturesque backdrops in which love flourishes. It seems each season the set pieces get more beautiful. The Season 2 confession was a major moment for the development of the pivotal couple. Now that it was out in the open, it was now a matter of how Jackie and Cole would handle things. After George's medical emergency, life on the ranch was quite chaotic. Upon visiting George at the hospital, she realizes life is too short, so there was no more hiding. She was going to spend time with the man she loved. So, the city girl is the one to take the country boy out into the wilderness. A place they had previously spent time together.
Jackie musters up the courage to tell Cole that she's done worrying about the future and wants to live in the present. Free from the messy love triangle and the burden of a hectic home, Cole and Jackie share a passionate, guilt-free kiss. Against a stunning mountain backdrop with a waterfall, there couldn't be a more cinematic moment. They decide they can no longer be friends and finally decide to let their love roam free. Having the moment happen in the wide-open wilderness mirrors the freedom they've been desperately craving. While storytelling-wise, it may have seemed like an early point in the season for it to occur, it opened up a beautiful season of sweet kisses, intimate gestures, and young love that is meant to be.
