There was considerable anticipation surrounding Sigma, primarily because it marks the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay, the son of megastar Joseph Vijay. Backed by Lyca Productions and featuring Sundeep Kishan, Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, and Sampath Raj in leading roles, the heist action-drama released in theatres across Tamil and Telugu belts. In 2 days, the film stands at a net collection of 3.85 crore only in India.

However, the theatrical response over its opening weekend has been rather lukewarm. In fact, it has witnessed a considerable drop on day 2, despite the Gandhi Jayanti weekend. For a medium-budget film carrying notable star lineage and technical polish, a downward trend on Saturday is a worrying sign.

Sigma Box Office Collection Day 2

After securing a modest 2.35 crore net on its opening day, Gandhi Jayanti, Friday, Sigma failed to register the expected Saturday jump. On Saturday, the second day, October 3, the action comedy earned 1.50 crore net on Day 2, marking a drop of 36.17% from its opening day numbers.

Day 1: 2.35 crore
Day 2: 1.5 crore

Total: 3.85 crore

Produced on an estimated budget of 25 crore – 30 crore, the film is currently staring at a steep climb. With total 2-day net collections standing at only 3.85 crore, the film has only managed to recover roughly 12% to 15% of its overall budget through theatrical returns so far. Unless the film shows a dramatic turnaround on Sunday across mass circuits, Sigma will find it difficult to sustain during the crucial weekday test starting Monday.

Rated 7.6 on IMDb, the official synopsis of the film says, “A rogue treasure hunter breaks every rule in pursuit of the ultimate score, navigating deadly traps and double-crosses with wit and audacity in this adrenaline-fueled adventure.”
