The trial of the seven men accused of murdering South African rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane has been adjourned until April 2027.

The Durban High Court postponed proceedings, with the next sitting scheduled to run from 12 April to 14 May 2027.

The trial began in early October 2026, with the State having presented evidence from more than 20 witnesses.

Evidence heard so far includes video footage, vehicle-tracking data, ballistic evidence and financial records, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

Seven men face charges

The seven accused face several charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, multiple counts of attempted murder and firearm- and ammunition-related offences.

All seven remain in custody.

The State is expected to present further evidence when proceedings resume in April.

AKA and Tibz were shot dead in Durban

AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Forbes, and celebrity chef and businessman Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were shot dead outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on 10 February 2023.

Their murders shocked South Africa and sparked a lengthy police investigation.

The trial is expected to continue over the scheduled April and May 2027 sitting, as the State leads further evidence against the accused.
