Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ 11,653-square-foot Hudson River estate is back at $9.75 million after years on and off the market; the couple paid $4.5 million for the nearly 12-acre property

Hollywood couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ sprawling Hudson River estate in Irvington, New York, is back on the market for $9.75 million after multiple attempts to sell it since 2024.

Known as Longmeadow, the nearly 12-acre property was first listed for $12 million in June 2024, less than five years after Zeta-Jones purchased it for $4.5 million in 2019.The latest listing represents a $2.25 million reduction from the property's original asking price. Realtor.com reported that the estate was taken off the market in April 2025 before returning a month later at $10 million. It was subsequently removed again and relisted on March 19, 2026, at $9.75 million. The renewed attention around the estate comes as Douglas, 82, discusses a difficult period in his marriage to Zeta-Jones in his new memoir, 'One Helluva Ride'. In an interview-related report published this week, Douglas recalled the couple’s temporary separation in 2013, describing the period as “incredibly difficult.” The couple reconciled in 2014 and have since remained together.

A nearly century-old Hudson River estate

Longmeadow is a 11,653-square-foot Georgian-style home spread across four levels.

The brick-and-stone residence was built in 1929 and sits in Irvington’s Matthiessen Park area, roughly 25 miles from Midtown Manhattan. The estate has eight bedrooms and about 11.5 to 12 bathrooms, according to the current and previous listings. The property offers sweeping views of the Hudson River, with about 130 feet of river frontage. A 100-foot west-facing terrace overlooks the water, while the grounds include lawns, stone terraces and outdoor entertaining areas.

The estate also has a four-car garage and guest quarters.Inside, the house combines historic details with renovations carried out during the couple’s ownership. A 30-foot gallery leads into formal living and dining spaces, while a two-story wood-panelled library is among the home's prominent features. The property also has multiple fireplaces, a large kitchen, a primary suite with a sitting area and fireplace, and a lower level designed for recreation and entertaining. The amenities extend to a home gym and a 21-foot heated indoor swimming pool. The residence also includes a summer kitchen and additional recreation spaces, making the estate considerably more than a traditional historic mansion.

Zeta-Jones bought the property for $4.5 million in 2019, according to property records and contemporary reports.

Zeta-Jones bought the property for $4.5 million in 2019, according to property records and contemporary reports. Architectural Digest reported at the time that the couple had sold their much larger Bedford Corners mansion for almost $20.5 million and purchased the Irvington property as a comparatively smaller residence. The 2019 purchase was described as a roughly 12,000-square-foot Georgian-style mansion on more than 12 acres. The property was known as Long Meadow and had 22 rooms, eight bedrooms, multiple fireplaces, a library, gym, game room and indoor swimming pool. By 2024, the home had undergone extensive restoration and was being presented as a combination of historic architecture and modern interiors. Architectural Digest identified it as an 11,653-square-foot residence with eight ensuite bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The estate also has a notable history predating its Hollywood owners. It was previously associated with Charles Lewis Tiffany, founder of Tiffany & Co., as well as the Matthiessen family, according to reports surrounding the 2024 listing.

Why Douglas and Zeta-Jones decided to sell

When the couple first listed Longmeadow in 2024, Zeta-Jones said the decision was linked to a change in their family circumstances. Their children, Dylan and Carys, had both grown up and left home, making the expansive estate less necessary for the family.“When I purchased our Irvington home, I knew our family would share many happy times here, and we have,” Zeta-Jones said at the time, adding that with both children having “left the nest”, it felt like the right time to sell. She also said she and Douglas planned to spend more time in Bermuda and Europe. The property had also hosted high-profile gatherings. In April 2024, the couple hosted a fundraiser for then-President Joe Biden at the estate, with reports saying guests could pay as much as $100,000 to attend.

Price has fallen but remains well above purchase cost

The latest $9.75 million asking price is still more than double the $4.5 million the property cost in 2019, although the estate has yet to attract a buyer at its earlier asking prices. At $12 million, the original 2024 price was $7.5 million above what Zeta-Jones paid for the property. The current $9.75 million asking price is $2.25 million below that initial figure, representing an 18.75% reduction.Despite the price cuts, Longmeadow remains a substantial luxury property, combining nearly 12 acres of Hudson River frontage with a historic four-level mansion, extensive renovations and amenities including an indoor pool, gym, library and multiple entertaining spaces. For now, the Irvington estate remains one of the most visible properties in the couple’s real estate portfolio. And while its sale has taken longer than expected, the latest relisting puts the Hudson River mansion back on the market at its lowest asking price ye
