Maxene Magalona elated over dad Francis M’s song feature in ‘Forgotten Island’
Maxene Magalona was overjoyed after watching the Filipino cast-led animation film “Forgotten Island,” which features P-pop boy group SB19’s rendition of her late father, Master Rapper Francis Magalona’s hit “Mga Kababayan.”
The actress, who attended an advanced screening of the DreamWorks movie, has nothing but praise as she documented her experience through her Instagram page on Sunday, Sept. 20.
“Mga kababayan ko, dapat lang malaman niyo na sobrang ganda at astig ng ‘Forgotten Island’!” she said.

“The movie is highly entertaining, the animation is phenomenal and the message of the story is so inspiring,” she continued. “It’s about remembering. Remembering who we are as a people, remembering sacred memories that make our lives meaningful and remembering what truly matters in life—love, connection and belonging.”

Maxene congratulated the voice cast members including Liza Soberano, H.E.R., Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon, praising their performances that “[bring] so much joy, inspiration and healing to the Filipino people.”
She also made mention of BINI and SB19, whose songs are part of the film’s official track list.
“Congratulations also to BINI for creating one of the songs from the original soundtrack, ‘A Parallel World’ (It was my first time meeting them at the premiere and they are all so lovely and full of grace) as well as SB19 for making a very cool rendition of my Father’s song, ‘Mga Kababayan,'” she wrote.

Maxene then paid tribute to her late father, expressing her immense pride in his works.
“I was jumping in my seat when I heard your song in one of the best scenes in the movie,” she addressed Francis. “You were the biggest goofball when you were alive—so energetic and passionate with your work as an artist but incredibly humble and down to earth as a human being.”

“I still can’t believe one of your classic hits is now part of a global production. You really are Mr. Cool,” she said, addiing the hashtag “never forgotten.”
