Saquon Barkley receives early injury scare in Eagles' win over Titans

For many Eagles and Penn State fans, they always want to see their homegrown talent is healthy and playing at the top level. Unfortunately, that was not the case on Sunday when Saquon Barkley went down with an injury on the first play of the game. Against a feisty Titans defense, Barkley was sandwiched between multiple defenders on his first carry of the game. Reports eventually came out that it was a stinger and it was believed he was questionable to return.
Barkley did eventually return to the game, but was largely ineffective, only finishing with nine rushing yards on just four carries. Eagles fans will hope that this is only a minor injury, because the run game and the Eagles offense largely suffered as a result. In fact, they needed a last-minute touchdown throw from Jalen Hurts to end up beating a pretty awful Titans team. In his place, Tank Bigsby only had 33 rushing yards, while the team as a whole had 89 rushing yards and a touchdown, only averaging 2.8 yards per carry.

This means that Eagles fans will most likely be anticipating the results of an MRI sometime this week to find out if Barkley will miss significant time. For a player who plays a significant role in the success of the team, it is paramount that he returns as healthy as possible.
While the Eagles will face a much easier test against the Chicago Bears on next Monday night now that quarterback Caleb Williams is out with an injury, they would love to be at full health themselves to avoid a major upset.
