Black Mirror season 8 filming underway as Netflix series returns

Black Mirror is set to return, with filming for season eight of the dystopian Netflix series underway. Variety confirmed the news after creator Charlie Brooker said earlier this year that the anthology series "will return" and "hopefully it'll be more Black Mirror than ever."
Brooker will return to the writing chair and will also executive produce the eighth season alongside K.Ali, Jessica Rhoades, Annabel Jones, and Louise Sutton. Mark Kinsella will co-executive produce.
The news comes just 18 months after the release of season seven, which earned several Golden Globe nominations and also marked the show's first-ever direct sequel with USS Callister: Into Infinity.

The season boasted a huge roster of stars, including Awkwafina, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Cristin Milioti, Issa Rae, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Harriet Walter.
There is no release date for the eighth season, and like all those that came before it, plot details are being kept tightly under wraps.
Brooker was pictured on set while filming for the season in Hope Cove, Devon, where the Hope Cove House had been dressed up and renamed as Sandcastle Hotel.
Speaking to Netflix's Tudum blog, Brooker confirmed that the show would return and have fans a little taste of what they could expect.

"I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it. So, that’s exciting," he said. "That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away."
Comparing the creation of the anthology show to making an album of music, he continued: "It's a useful thought experiment when approaching a new story.
"I'll often think of, 'Well, what haven't we done yet, and what tone am I looking for?… Where does this track come on the album, and what musical direction are we going to go into?' We'll find out. Very unlikely you'll ever see a Black Mirror hoedown."
Black Mirror seasons one to seven are available to stream now on Netflix.
