Queen Suthida makes a statement at public events with Western silhouettes and Thai craftsmanship

Thailand's Queen Suthida draws attention for her beauty and a modern wardrobe that weaves in her country's cultural traditions.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and the queen piloted the royal aircraft to Hanoi on the afternoon of Sept. 14, beginning a state visit to Vietnam.

The Sept. 14-16 visit is at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife.

On her first day in Vietnam, Queen Suthida made an impression with an elegant look: a gray A-line dress accented with floral motifs at the hem, paired with pointed silver shoes and a jeweled brooch.

During a visit to France in June, Queen Suthida (R) was praised for her refined choice of a modern ensemble featuring a Dior-style bar jacket and a full skirt. According to the Bangkok Post, the outfit had a Western silhouette but was made from premium Thai woven fabric, signaling integration and cultural exchange.

During a state visit to China in November 2025, Queen Suthida drew praise for a minimalist look: an A-line dress and a cape-style coat, finished with gloves and a pillbox hat.

According to the Bangkok Post, the queen is admired for her beauty and fashion sense. Modern outfits made from local woven fabrics, silk and brocade are a signature of her style.

Suthida holds a university degree in communication arts and once worked as a flight attendant for Thai Airways. She joined the Thai military in 2010, previously commanded the Special Operations Unit of the King's Guard and now holds the rank of general. The king and queen are both certified pilots who can fly several types of aircraft, and both hold commercial pilot licenses issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.

The queen typically pairs every outfit with a neat bun and soft makeup. According to the Bangkok Post, this consistency not only enhances her regal look but also makes her image instantly recognizable.

Handbags are one of the signature touches of her style. She often chooses box bags and clutches with distinctive shapes or minimalist designs. According to The Nation, some of the bags she has carried, including a handwoven yan lipao bag, have become highly sought after.

In August 2022, Queen Suthida won praise for pairing a beaded tassel bag with a matching silk A-line dress (pictured). She was presiding over a performance at a celebration of Queen Mother Sirikit's 90th birthday at the Thailand Cultural Centre in Bangkok.

At a concert celebrating King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua's 70th birthday in November 2022, Queen Suthida looked resplendent in a V-neck column gown layered with a sheer cape embellished with beads and sequins.

The event, hosted by Princess Sirivannavari, was held in the Main Hall of the Thailand Cultural Center in Bangkok's Huai Khwang District.

At a reception honoring Queen Mother Sirikit on her 90th birthday in August 2022, Suthida chose a silk mermaid gown woven with patterns characteristic of Thailand. The shimmering blue design featured embroidered motifs at the waist and hem, which she paired with a gemstone necklace, earrings and bracelet.

That same year, the king and queen visited the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles to preside over the opening of the Sirirajphastra Boromarachininat exhibition. Suthida wore an unconventional take on the traditional Chud Thai dress, following the asymmetric trend. The pastel blue outfit had a minimalist cut, accented by a brown sash running from shoulder to hip.

In December 2022, the Thai king and queen visited the Siam Pavalai Royal Grand Theater at Siam Paragon mall in Bangkok's Pathum Wan District to watch the film "Hanuman White Monkey" and view the Khon Cinema exhibition. She made an impression in a red-orange midi dress with a plunging neckline and 1980s-inspired puff sleeves.
