Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham are all back on the hunt for major new signings as the January window edges closer. Arsenal have not given up hope on Julian Alvarez and are among the several clubs believed to be monitoring Erling Haaland’s situation at Manchester City. The Gunners are also said to have launched a bid for Mexico wonderkid Gilberto Mora as they look to tie up new contracts for Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber.

Manchester United could bank a windfall from a potential Napoli sale of Scott McTominay, while JJ Gabriel’s camp are believed to have held further talks with Bayern Munich. However, Real Madrid and Barcelona still look to be the frontrunners for the 15-year-old sensation. Liverpool are once again being linked with an audacious swoop for Kylian Mbappe following fresh doubts over his future in Madrid as they also battle Chelsea for Lamine Camara and eye William Gomes.

Chelsea still lead the race for Alex Scott, while Tottenham could turn to Vangelis Pavlidis as a solution to their striker woes amid new links to Giuliano Simeone. Follow all the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip live below!

Man Utd could bank Scott McTominay transfer windfall

Manchester United could receive a transfer windfall from the sale of Scott McTominay.

The Scotland midfielder has thrived since leaving Old Trafford for Serie A giants Napoli in a £25.7m transfer in the summer of 2024.

The Daily Star now report that McTominay - who on Saturday made his return to Napoli action four weeks after heart surgery in their 3-0 home win over Frosinone - is attracting further interest from clubs around Europe, including Real Madrid.

Napoli are rumoured to be struggling to agree new contract terms with the 29-year-old, on whom Man Utd are understood to retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

Arsenal handed boost in Erling Haaland race

Arsenal are also said to be among a number of heavyweight European clubs closely monitoring Erling Haaland’s situation at Manchester City.

Haaland’s future at the Etihad Stadium - along with that of several other top City stars - has become subject to intense speculation since the club were found guilty by an independent commission of all charges related to breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons.

City deny any wrongdoing and have appealed against the verdict.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are included in the list of clubs keeping close tabs on Haaland’s situation, though face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

They speculate that Haaland’s desire to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record could be a decisive factor for Arsenal.

Everton up for sale

An Everton statement reads:

“The Friedkin Group is exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest.

“When TFG became custodians of Everton, the Club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch. The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the Club’s future, including helping to bring the long-promised stadium to completion for its deserving supporters.

“With that foundation now safely in place, the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton. We will only entertain interest from parties who we strongly believe will be the right stewards to take the Club forward and build on the momentum that has been established.”
