Coronation Street airs surprise pregnancy twist in early ITVX release

Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has discovered she is pregnant in today's episode of Coronation Street.
The news follows a night of passion with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who had recently separated from her imprisoned mother Sarah (Tina O'Brien). Little did they realise, while they chatted about their encounter the following day, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) overheard.
Jodie subsequently planned to blackmail Bethany into keeping quiet about her other misdemeanours, but after accidentally shooting herself, fled Weatherfield.
Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) has learnt of Bethany and Kit's big secret, though given her own earlier affair with him, has vowed to keep quiet.
But will Jodie keep the same promise when she inevitably returns?

In today's episode, Bethany urged Kit to tell her mum the truth about his stage three breast cancer diagnosis before she appeared in court for the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), but he flatly refused to come clean.
Later, in the café, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) - who has been dating Bethany for a couple of weeks - praised her for always putting her family’s needs ahead of her own. Although she smiled at his kind words, she was consumed by guilt.
Bethany and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) subsequently visited Sarah, who admitted she had accepted Kit’s decision not to help her as it could be potentially career damaging for him. However, Todd let slip that Kit has cancer, leaving Bethany horrified and Sarah reeling from the revelation.

Desperate to persuade Sarah to reconsider, Bethany pleaded with her to allow Gary Windass (Mikey North) to take the blame for Theo’s death. She reminded her mum that she was needed by those back on the cobbles, particularly young son Harry (Joshua Leavy).
Faced with an impossible decision, Sarah was left torn.
Meanwhile, in the Rovers, landlady Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) made an ill-judged joke about Kit’s shaved head. When Todd approached Kit and confessed that he had revealed his cancer diagnosis to Sarah, he was livid and stormed out of the pub. Upon hearing the news herself, Eva immediately regretted her insensitive remark.

Back at the Redbank Apartments, Kit confronted Bethany, blaming her for failing to prevent Todd from disclosing his secret. Ryan then arrived for their date and an explosive row broke out, with Bethany sending him packing while Kit took time to calm down.
That evening, with Kit out of the house to clear his head, Bethany emerged from the bathroom holding a pregnancy test. As she looked at the result, she was horrified to discover that she was pregnant.
What will Bethany do?
