Rob Lowe's niece dies at the age of 13: 'We are heartbroken'

The daughter of Chad Lowe and Kim Painter has died at the age of 13.

Fiona Hepler Lowe’s death was confirmed to People on Tuesday, September 29 by the Lowe family, who wrote: “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona.”

Fiona, the niece of Rob Lowe, was remembered as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” the family said, adding, “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988,” the statement concluded.

Fiona, the second daughter of Chad and Kim, was born on November 16, 2012. Her middle name, Hepler, was Lowe’s late mother’s maiden name and is his brother Rob Lowe’s middle name.

Last year, Chad shared a celebratory post to mark his daughter’s 13th birthday. “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!,” he wrote.

Her death comes over just over a year after her family lost their home in the January 2025 Pacific Palisades Fire.

Chad praised his daughters’ resilience to the loss of their home on Instagram, praising their attitude as “nothing short of remarkable”.

“Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home.

“I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”

Fiona is survived by her father, Chad, her mother, Kim and her sisters, Mabel and Nixie.
