Mariska Hargitay Teases Christopher Meloni’s ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Return for 600th Episode

Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni are gearing up to reunite on the small screen, Law & Order style.

The Emmy winner teased Meloni’s return to Special Victims Unit with two Instagram posts; Tuesday night, she initially shared a photo of herself on-set with an unidentified bald man, whose back was turned towards her. “WHO DAT,” she wrote, although all savvy Law & Order fans knew it was Meloni.

Her second Instagram post was a selfie with the Organized Crime actor, seemingly confirming that he’d popped up in the 600th episode of Law & Order: SVU. “Happy 600..” she wrote in the caption.

Their character’s, Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler, will reunite onscreen in season 28 of SVU. An original star of the series, Meloni appeared on the Law & Order spinoff from 1999-2011, and has since popped up in numerous cameo appearances.

In 2021, he reprised his Law & Order: SVU character for the NBC spinoff Organized Crime. The series lasted five seasons; it ran four installments on NBC before moving to Peacock for its fifth and final season.

At the time when the show was canceled, Meloni accredited the fans for the longevity of his character Elliot Stabler. “I wanted to take this moment to say thank you to the fans who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back,” he said on Instagram. “It was a good ride. I had a great time playing him. It was a great ride. Thank you. You helped give me a career that I never dreamed of, nearly 17 odd years.”

Law & Order: SVU has ran 594 episodes already, meaning the special 600th episode will fall upon season 28’s sixth episode. Hargitay has starred in all seasons of the series, and recently hosted the 2026 Emmy Awards, where she tapped her friend Taylor Swift to appear in an SVU-themed skit.
