The 2026/27 summer transfer window has come and gone, bringing with it the usual frenzy, excitement, drama and suspense.

While a host of players seized the opportunity to embark on new challenges at different clubs, teams across Europe also moved swiftly to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.

Nigerian players were not left out of the transfer buzz, with several Super Eagles stars and other Nigerian talents making moves during the window.

Akor Adams (Sevilla – Venezia)

The striker made a surprise move to Serie A newcomers Venezia after an impressive 2025/26 campaign with Sevilla.

Adams joined the Winged Lions for a club-record €16 million plus bonuses, becoming the most expensive signing in Venezia’s history.

The 26-year-old wasted no time justifying the hefty price tag, scoring twice and providing an assist on his competitive debut as Venezia secured a thrilling 3-2 Coppa Italia victory over Modena.

Tolu Arokodare (Wolves – Ajax)

Arokodare endured a difficult spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers following his high-profile move from Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk.

However, the Nigerian striker has found a fresh start at Ajax, who signed him on loan last month with an obligation to make the move permanent.

The forward is enjoying a new lease of life at the Johan Cruyff Arena, making an immediate impact for the De Godenzonen with five goals and two assists in seven appearances across all competitions.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Celtic – Bursaspor)

Kelechi Iheanacho surprised many football fans with his decision to join Turkish second-tier side Bursaspor after an impressive spell with Celtic last season.

However, the former Manchester City striker has quickly made his mark in Turkey, playing a key role in the Green Crocodiles’ push for promotion to the Turkish Super Lig.

The 29-year-old has already registered eight goals and two assists in just six league appearances, helping Bursaspor climb to second place in the Turkish 1. Lig standings, behind league leaders Batman Petrolspor.

Rafiu Durosinmi (Pisa – Genk)

Durosinmi spent just six months with Italian side Pisa before making the switch to Belgian Pro League giants KRC Genk.

His spell in Italy failed to go according to plan, with the striker scoring just once in 12 league appearances as Pisa were relegated to Serie B.

However, the 23-year-old has settled in quickly at Genk, making an impressive start to life in Belgium with four goals in his first five league outings.

Taiwo Awoniyi (N’ Forest – Coventry City)

The 29-year-old joined Coventry City from Nottingham Forest for a reported €9 million fee on August 17, linking up with international teammate Frank Onyeka at the CBS Arena.

Awoniyi spent four seasons at Forest, scoring 23 goals in 103 appearances across all competitions.

Since moving to Coventry City, he has made four appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist.

Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge – Eintracht Frankfurt)

The defensive midfielder ended his four-year spell with Belgian Pro League champions Club Brugge to join Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Onyeka enjoyed a successful stint at Club Brugge, winning two league titles, one Belgian Cup and one Belgian Super Cup during his time at the club.

He made his Bundesliga debut for Eintracht Frankfurt in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Union Berlin.

Arthur Okonkwo (Wrexham – Charlton Athletic)

Okonkwo joined Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan after losing his place in Wrexham’s first XI towards the end of last season.

The move could be made permanent at the end of the season, with the goalkeeper having less than a year remaining on his Wrexham contract.

The Arsenal Academy graduate has since featured in five Sky Bet Championship matches for Charlton Athletic.

Terem Moffi (OGC Nice – Hamburg)

The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese champions FC Porto. However, the Dragons opted against exercising the buy option in his contract after he recorded one goal and one assist in nine league appearances.

Ebenezer Akinsamiro (Inter Milan – Monza)

Akinsanmiro joined Serie A newcomers Monza from Inter Milan on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy.

The defensive midfielder had previously spent time on loan at Sampdoria and Pisa.

The 21-year-old made an immediate impact on his debut, registering an assist for Monza.

Gift Orban (Hoffenheim – Amedspor)

The 24-year-old swapped Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for Turkish outfit Amedspor in the summer and has quickly established himself as a key player for the modest club, registering three goals and one assist in four league appearances.

Orban spent last season on loan at Italian side Hellas Verona, who opted against exercising their option to sign the striker on a permanent deal.
