Eight suspects indicted for drug trafficking after undercover police operation in Tel Aviv

An undercover operation involving two police officers in south Tel Aviv led to indictments being filed on Wednesday against eight defendants, including five women, on drug trafficking charges, police said.

The two officers had recently been deployed by the Sharet police station in the Ayalon District as part of an operation targeting drug-dealing hubs in the southern part of the city.

During the investigation, the officers worked as undercover agents and carried out drug transactions with various suspects. At the same time, investigators gathered evidence that, according to police, linked the suspects to dozens of drug deals.

The transactions took place at locations in south Tel Aviv where drugs are sold. Police said criminal elements use these locations as centers that generate crime in the area.

The investigation found that the defendants allegedly trafficked large quantities of heroin and cocaine, selling the drugs to various customers, including foreign nationals living in south Tel Aviv.

Police arrest, question eight suspects over drug trafficking charges

When the investigation moved from its undercover phase to an overt operation, police arrested all eight suspects, including the five women, and took them for questioning at the Sharet police station.

Their detention was extended by the court over the course of the investigation.

On Wednesday, following the completion of the investigation, indictments were filed against all eight defendants, charging them with drug trafficking offenses.

Alongside the indictments, prosecutors also requested that the defendants remain in custody until the end of legal proceedings.
