Penang chief minister leads investment, trade mission to US

GEORGE TOWN: Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow is leading an investment and trade mission to the United States (US) from today to Oct 5 to strengthen ties with American investors and attract new investments to the state.

Organised by InvestPenang, the state's investment promotion agency, the trade mission aims to renew existing relationships and forge stronger ties with the corporate headquarters of American companies.

In a statement today, the Penang Chief Minister's Office said the trade mission also seeks to update American companies on Penang's latest developments, including the Penang Silicon Design @5km+ and Penang ATE Campus, infrastructure enhancements and policy changes designed to facilitate investments.

"By enhancing visibility and further promoting Penang as a preferred investment location, the mission also targets potential investors in industries such as semiconductors, including integrated circuit design, advanced packaging and equipment manufacturing; medical devices and global business services," it said.

During the visit, Chow and InvestPenang delegates will participate in a series of meetings and site visits with the corporate headquarters of American investors.

According to the statement, these engagements provide a valuable platform to highlight Penang's innovation, competitiveness and long-term vision as a preferred investment destination.
