Declan Rice struck eight minutes from time to earn Arsenal a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 league phase at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for Mikel Arteta’s side before Alphonso Davies equalised for the host. Harry Kane then converted a second-half penalty to put Bayern ahead, only for Rice to restore parity in the closing stages.

Arsenal suffered an early setback when Bukayo Saka sustained a thigh injury in the eighth minute and was replaced by Eze.

The substitute made his presence felt in the 25th minute, latching onto Martin Odegaard’s pass behind Bayern’s defence before beating Manuel Neuer. Although the assistant referee initially flagged for offside, VAR overturned the decision and awarded the goal.

Bayern responded 10 minutes later through Davies, who timed his run to perfection to collect Kane’s through ball and finish past David Raya.

The German side, missing Michael Olise, Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala, gradually gained control after the equaliser but could not find another breakthrough before half-time.

Both goalkeepers were called into action after the restart. Neuer produced an excellent save to keep out an Arsenal header, while Raya denied Dayot Upamecano at the other end.

Bayern eventually took the lead in the 61st minute when Kane’s shot struck Jurrien Timber’s arm inside the penalty area. The England captain stepped up to convert the resulting spot-kick.

Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot and assisted Alphonso Davies’ equaliser during the match against Arsenal.

The goal extended Kane’s scoring streak to 10 consecutive Champions League appearances, leaving him one short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 11.

With Bayern seemingly heading towards victory, Arsenal found a way back through Rice in the 82nd minute.

Substitute Viktor Gyokeres played a clever pass into the midfielder’s path, and Rice finished past Neuer to ensure the visitors returned to London with a point.

The draw was only the second time Arsenal had dropped points in 12 matches across all competitions this season.

Arteta’s side moved to seven points from three Champions League fixtures, while Vincent Kompany’s Bayern reached five points after recording its second successive draw in the competition.
