GP found dead in home near Sandringham Estate named locally as murder investigation continues

A woman who was found dead at a property near the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk has been named locally as a GP.

Dr Hannah Terry was found at an address in Fern Hill, Dersingham, just over one mile from Sandringham House, in the early hours of Sunday.

A notice on the website of Grimston Medical Centre, where Dr Terry is listed as a member of the practice team, says it is “temporarily closed due to extremely difficult circumstances affecting our practice team”.

Dr Terry, who is also known by her married name Hannah Cain, has not been officially identified.

Norfolk Police said officers found the body of a woman in her 40s after they were called by the ambulance service shortly after 2.20am on Sunday.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to King’s Lynn police investigation centre for questioning, the force added.

Police said on Monday that officers had applied to Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court for a warrant of further detention, which would allow them an additional 32 hours to question the man.

A cordon remains in place at the address as inquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Alix Wright, of the Norfolk and Suffolk major investigation team, said on Sunday: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation, working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

“I’d ask anyone who believes they may have information that could help our investigation to please share this with us.”
