Games leave PlayStation Plus constantly, which, naturally, keeps most users on guard as they await the eventual departure of their favorite titles. However, every so often it is easy to miss a game or two, and they inevitably fall through the cracks and are gone forever before one has a chance to grab them. It always hurts when this happens, especially for newer subscribers who simply aren't aware of this eventuality or miss out on the previous month's free games.

Such is the case with an iconic PlayStation 1 title that is beloved universally by fans. The game is set to leave PlayStation Plus extremely soon, giving fans only a handful of days at most to grab it before it's gone forever. While dedicated fans have likely already downloaded it, for those new to the service or anyone with even a passing interest, it is still worth trying to get it, as it is easily one of the best PS1 games available on PS Plus and a must-play in general for fans of the legendary series it is based on.

There are seven games leaving the PlayStation Plus service in September, among which is this aforementioned classic PS1 title. Included in the departures are EA Sports Madden NFL 26, Persona 5 Tactica, and three Shadowrun games, all of which will be sorely missed by their respective fans. However, what is most important is that, joining them, is one of the greatest movie tie-in games ever made and a legitimately phenomenal PS1 game.

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue was added to PlayStation Plus back in 2022, and it has been an incredible addition to the Classics Catalog ever since. It's a surprisingly good Disney movie tie-in game that sees players control the titular Buzz Lightyear as he navigates numerous levels, collecting Pizza Planet tokens, fighting enemies, and defeating bosses. For its time, it was rather highly regarded, and today it remains a fairly enjoyable Toy Story romp.

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue (alongside Toy Story 3) will leave PlayStation Plus on September 15, 2026. That only leaves a handful of weeks to play through it before it's eventually taken off the service. However, for those who are interested but perhaps don't have the time, an alternative option is being made available. Disney/Pixar Toy Story: Retro Roundup!, a collection of several Disney movie tie-in games, including Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, is set to release on September 15, the same day the beloved PS1 game is being removed from PS Plus.

It is understandable why the existing versions of the individual games are being removed in favor of the collection. However, considering the collection will cost $24.99 at launch (and doesn't include Toy Story 3), it is still a loss for current subscribers. Still, for those who are eager to play Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, there will at least be another opportunity once it has officially left PlayStation Plus in mid-September.
