Coronation Street's Ross spreads vicious lies about Maria – will Gary be fooled?

Coronation Street's Ross Wilkes continues to cause trouble on the cobbles – this time for Maria Connor and, in turn, Gary Windass. Ross arrived in Weatherfield earlier this year as Tyrone Dobbs' estranged father, and recently got a job as a prison officer.
Viewers will know there are far more sinister secrets at play with Ross, after it was revealed he raped Tyrone's mother Cassie Plummer when she was just 15 years old. Not only does he make Tyrone uncomfortable at home, but he's also making Marco Rhodes' life a living hell behind bars by tormenting him.

In tonight's (2 November) episode, Ross rattled Gary after he stepped in to protect Marco, targeting the one person Gary cares for the most – his partner, Maria.
The latest instalment began with Gary noticing a gash on Marc's arm, and despite Marco playing the injury down, it did nothing to ease Gary's suspicions.
Later, Maria and Summer arrived at the prison to visit Gary and Marco, respectively, but while Maria and Gary caught up, Summer was left heartbroken when Marco didn't arrive for visitation.
It immediately worried Gary that Marco was being bullied and that he was too scared to leave his cell, and later, Summer turned to Ross to ask him to keep an eye on Marco.
At the same time, as he left the pub, Ross spotted Maria speaking to newcomer Idris Nazir and smiled to himself.

When he began his next shift at the prison, Ross immediately threatened Marco, and despite Maria begging him not to get involved, Gary arrived to diffuse the situation.
Clearly annoyed by having his power challenged, Ross later found Gary and began suggesting that a romance was blossoming between Idris and Maria after spotting them in the pub together, hinting that it won't be long until he made his move.
Though Gary tried to put on a brave face, the lies clearly upset him – will he confront Maria, and what will either of them do when they find out Ross twisted the situation?
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
