Say Now Aren’t Flirting on New Single, They’re Just ‘Hot and Talking’
The track will appear on the British girl group's debut EP Say What You See, co-written and executive produced by PinkPantheress, out Nov. 13
Say Now, the British pop trio formerly known as needanamebro, offer up a crash course in social cue literacy on their latest single “Hot and Talking.”
“Looked in your direction, but don’t take that as a sign/I just wanna know what kind of people at this party/There’s a conversation in your head that I’m not hearing/Or that I’m missing,” the group sings on the opening verse of the electro-influenced pop track.
The accompanying “Hot and Talking” video leans further into Say Now’s aggressively early 2010s fashion aesthetic as their band identity continues to take shape. They’re leaning all the way in.
“We hope when everyone hears this EP they can feel like they’re truly getting to know Say Now and our identity,” the band tells Rolling Stone. “Everyday we just think, how lucky are we to have Pink as a mentor, friend, and executive producer for our debut EP? We can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

The single follows “Met My Match,” both of which will appear on their forthcoming debut EP Say What You See. Co-written and executive produced by PinkPantheress, the project is set for release on Nov. 13 via Atlantic Records after three years of loose singles as the girl group — Amelia, Maddie and Ysabelle — nailed down their sound.
With “Hot and Talking,” in particular, they drew inspiration from Girls Aloud. “The hooks, the attitude, the outfits; that’s the energy we wanted for ‘Hot and talking,’” they shared. Say Now joins an extensive lineage of British girl groups — from Spice Girls, Sugababes, and Girls Aloud to Little Mix and their more contemporary peers Flo. On a global front, they’re sharing the space with Katseye, who’ve been leading the girl group conversation this year for better or worse.
