Emmerdale - here's why Cain Dingle owes Sadie King £2.5 million

If you watched tonight's Emmerdale, you might be wondering why Sadie King told Cain Dingle he owes her £2.5 million – here's why.
Emmerdale fans will remember that Cain left the soap in 2006 after a dramatic storyline involving Sadie and her father-in-law, Tom.

Cain and Sadie, who were having an affair, planned to kidnap Tom for ransom, but their scheme unraveled when Cain turned on Sadie.
After stealing the money, Cain headed to the airfield, where Sadie expected to leave with him. Cain double-crossed her and boarded the plane alone, leaving Sadie high and dry.
Cain's departure in September 2006 ended Jeff Hordley's first stint on the soap, with the actor returning in 2009.
When Cain returned, he was still sitting on the stolen fortune. However, the money caused problems between Cain and Charity, so Debbie eventually set it alight, leaving Cain with nothing.
In tonight's episode (18 September), Sadie let herself into Cain's house and began looking around, asking him if he was going to ask her what she was looking for.
"Let me refresh your memory," she said. "You, me, a big bag of cash, a shameless betrayal and a seaplane. Ring any bells?"
"I think I remember this one," said Cain. "Something about a deranged blonde falling for a bit of rough who wasn't really into her, so he took what he was owed, and then they both moved on with their lives."
After Sadie asked Cain where the money was, Cain said it was over 20 years ago, saying: "What do you think, I just whacked it in an ISA?"
Sadie said: "So that's you off the hook for two-and-a-half million quid, is it? Do you have any idea how badly you screwed me over?"

Cain explained that he didn't have the money, and they sat down to talk. Sadie dropped a bombshell on Cain, telling him she had been pregnant when he left, though she had lost the baby after a miscarriage.
Cain was supportive, and the pair shared a drink. Later, Moira walked in on them talking and followed Sadie to the Woolpack, telling her to stay away from Cain.
Speaking to Digital Spy about revisiting the soap, Sadie actor Patsy Kensit said: "We don't know whether she's a reformed character or not! But it's wonderful to be back for a little while and to say those horrible things to people.
"I'm pathologically polite in real life, so it's wonderful to live vicariously through this woman who seems to have no shame in her game!"
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
