The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation announced on Friday that a light Israeli aircraft crashed during a training flight, resulting in the death of its pilot.

Official statements confirmed that the light aircraft crashed during a training flight in the northern region of Wadi Ara, north of Tel Aviv. The crash led to the death of the pilot, while his co-pilot sustained severe injuries.

The Fire and Rescue Authority stated that following verification with Israeli aviation authorities, it was confirmed that the aircraft was on a training flight and was not a private crop-duster helicopter, emphasizing that no pesticide materials were on board.

One crew member was found deceased at the site of the light aircraft crash, while another 34-year-old crew member was rescued and transported to Rambam Hospital in Haifa in critical condition, where he was placed under sedation on a ventilator.

Fire spreads toward residential areas

Meanwhile, the fire resulting from the plane crash expanded from the crash site up the hillside toward residential homes in Kafr Qara.

Fire crews from the Hadera station operated on two fronts simultaneously: extinguishing the burning wreckage of the aircraft and containing the wildfire to prevent it from advancing toward residential areas.
