He revealed that Khan has “literally taken like personal responsibility several times now, including in King as well.”Recalling his younger days, Abhishek said he would spend Sundays playing cricket with Uday Chopra and other aspiring actors, including
Hrithik Roshan
and Sikandar Kher. Shah Rukh would occasionally join them, giving the group an opportunity to interact with him away from the film sets.“Before I became an actor, on Sundays, my dear friend Uday Chopra and I, we used to go to Uday's house and his elder brother, Uday Chopra and a whole group of us used to play cricket in the afternoons and time to time Shah Rukh would come and play with us.
And Shah Rukh has always been like an elder brother. You know, he's somebody I have immense love and respect for,” Bachchan said.He went on to recall how the group would sit together and talk after their cricket sessions, at a time when several of them were hoping to pursue acting careers.“And he's been so, so supportive of me and my craft and my career, and has literally taken like personal responsibility several times now, including in King as well.
And after we used to finish playing, we used to all just sit around and just talk. And, you know, Uday, me, Sikandar, Hrithik, we were all, you know, wannabe actors at that point of time,” Abhishek added.
Abhishek Bachchan recalls Shah Rukh Khan's advice from before his acting debut
The King actor also remembered a conversation with Shah Rukh from before his own acting debut. During those informal conversations, Abhishek said he once asked Khan a question that aspiring actors and film enthusiasts often wonder about.“I remember asking him this question, because that's something you always want to know, you know, which is your favourite film?” Abhishek recalled.According to the actor, Shah Rukh's response was simple but left a lasting impression on him.“My favourite film is the film I'm doing right now. Because if that isn't my favourite, then why am I doing it?” SRK told him.Abhishek recalled being struck by the answer and said the conversation helped him understand the importance of remaining invested in the work one is currently doing.“And we used to talk to him. It was just wonderful, because he's just he's such a wonderful speaker. And I remember asking him this question, because that's something you always want to know, you know, which is your favourite film? So he said, you know, my favourite film is the film I'm doing right now. I said, Oh, which one is that? He's like, No, it's the one I'm doing right now. Because the one I'm doing right now, if that isn't my favourite, then why am I doing it? Okay, that makes sense.
That makes so much sense,” Bachchan said.
Abhishek Bachchan calls his upcoming film his favourite
Abhishek said Shah Rukh's answer stayed with him and influenced the way he approaches his own career. Rather than remaining focused on what has already happened, the actor believes his attention should remain on the project he is currently working on.“So, what I am doing right now has to be my favourite. What has happened in the past is the past. I don't think about it. Right now it is King,” he said.
