Ms Bonner was found dead in the apartment block in Carlton just before 2am on Saturday.

Victoria Police said the investigation into Ms Bonner's death remained ongoing.

Ms Bonner was a Yagera woman with family in Queensland.

She was described by her aunt, Kellie Carter-Bell, as a "gentle soul" with a "heart of gold."

Ms Carter-Bell said the family had been so concerned about Ms Bonner's welfare that they had recently sought help from police.

"We begged for their help, and because we were ringing them and not Jayda, their attitude was, 'Well, what do you want us to do?'"

Victoria Police did not respond to the family's claim, with a spokesperson telling the ABC it could not comment while an investigation was underway.
