The Ghana Education Service (GES) has transferred the first-term Capitation Grant for the 2026/2027 academic year to District Education Directorates for onward disbursement to basic schools.

In a letter dated October 16, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the Service directed them to ensure that the funds are transferred to the schools on or before Friday, October 30, 2026.

The GES said the transfers to district accounts include the Sports and Culture component for district offices, while the corresponding components for regional offices have been transferred to their designated accounts.

It urged Regional Directors to ensure the immediate release of the funds to enable heads of basic schools to operate smoothly.

The Service also announced that a team from its headquarters would visit the regions for a monitoring exercise in the first week of November 2026.

The visits are expected to monitor the disbursement process, making it necessary for regional authorities to ensure that the funds reach the schools before the deadline.

The GES expressed confidence in the cooperation of the Regional Directors to facilitate the timely disbursement of the grant and support the smooth operation of basic schools during the first term of the academic year.
