Casey Bloys Re-Ups Contract As He Embarks On Integrating HBO Max & Paramount+ Teams

Casey Bloys‘ new role at a new company comes with a new contract too. Deadline has confirmed that Bloys, named earlier today Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer, Skydance DTC, has signed a multi-year extension to his current contract, which runs though end of 2027.
Contract renewals are standard practice for hires on that level. Getting a long-term commitment from Bloys was likely part of Paramount — and now Skydance — CEO David Ellison’s decision to go with the decorated HBO executive over Paramount’s DTC Chair Cindy Holland in one of the most dramatic decisions he had to make while assembling the top executive suite of the combined company post-WBD merger.
Bloys, who will oversee content for both HBO Max and Paramount+, is expected to take some time and evaluate Holland’s programming team at Paramount+ before making personnel decisions. He is bringing with him his core group of HBO/HBO Max executives, HBO head of drama Francesca Orsi, HBO and HBO Max head of comedy Amy Gravitt, HBO Max head of originals Sarah Aubrey and HBO/HBO Max head of communications Jeff Cusson. Like Bloys, Orsi, Gravitt and Cusson all had been at HBO for more than 20 years.
Bloys, who started at HBO in 2004 as a comedy executive, rose to head of comedy before being named President of Programming in 2016. He added original content responsibilities for HBO Max in 2020 and was named Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content in 2022.
Under his tenure, HBO has remained a powerhouse with hit, acclaimed series. HBO/HBO Max is coming off another strong Emmy season, winning 21 awards out of 122 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series for The Pitt and Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series for DTF St. Louis.
