Star Trek's 60th anniversary has been nothing short of remarkable for longtime fans, bringing together nearly every era of the franchise in a massive yearlong celebration with several exciting announcements. On television, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy introduced a new generation of Starfleet cadets, while Strange New Worlds returned for its fourth season, bringing Captain Pike and the Enterprise crew back for another round of adventures.

The gaming side has been particularly busy, with Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown reimagining Janeway's perilous journey home and the newly released Star Trek: Outposts Unknown offering a completely different experience, with the survival-horror game Shadow Frontier on the way in 2027. Fans have also been treated to the announcement of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's return in The Peacemakers, a long-awaited new novel by Una McCormack that follows Jake Sisko five years after the Dominion War.

Captain Kathryn Janeway is also getting in on the anniversary celebrations, with Kate Mulgrew returning to contribute to another major Star Trek release. Arriving November 24, this ambitious new project promises something truly special for Voyager fans while also celebrating the franchise's entire 60-year history.

Captain Kathryn Janeway is officially returning as part of Star Trek's extensive 60th anniversary celebrations, although not quite in the way fans might expect. Kate Mulgrew, who famously portrayed the legendary Starfleet captain throughout Star Trek: Voyager and later reprised the role in Star Trek: Prodigy, is contributing to an ambitious new release arriving on November 24.

Titled Star Trek Timelines, the massive new hardcover book from DK features a foreword written by Mulgrew herself, making her an important part of the franchise's latest anniversary project. The 336-page book carries a retail price of $60 and is already available for pre-order through Penguin Random House and other major retailers.

The book goes way beyond just recapping Star Trek's television and cinematic history, Star Trek Timelines exploring the fictional universe itself, charting events from the Big Bang all the way to the end of the universe. The book covers hundreds of significant moments throughout Star Trek's Prime Timeline, incorporating material from The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise, alongside newer productions like Discovery, Strange New Worlds, and Starfleet Academy.

The book also dives into Star Trek's numerous alternate realities, including the infamous Mirror Universe, the Kelvin Timeline established in J.J. Abrams' 2009 reboot, and Voyager's unforgettable "Year of Hell" storyline. The latter is especially appropriate given Mulgrew's involvement, as the two-part episode is widely considered one of Captain Janeway's best moments. Dedicated character spreads also explore the journeys of major figures like Jean-Luc Picard and Michael Burnham.

Beyond Mulgrew's involvement, the project features four writers with considerable Star Trek experience: Derek Tyler Attico, Michael Dismuke, Kelli Fitzpatrick, and Jim Johnson. Fans will recognize Attico for writing 2023's The Autobiography of Benjamin Sisko, which received a Scribe Award nomination. He's also a winner of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds short-story competition and has even contributed to the Star Trek Adventures tabletop RPG.

You can pre-order Star Trek: Timelines via Amazon here.

Dismuke is another veteran of the tabletop franchise, having contributed to more than 20 Star Trek Adventures publications and served as lead writer on the Captain's Log Solo RPG. Fitzpatrick similarly contributed to Star Trek Adventures and won the 2016 Strange New Worlds competition with "The Sunwalkers." Johnson, meanwhile, serves as project manager and line editor for the Star Trek Adventures and Captain's Log role-playing games.

While Janeway isn't coming back in a new live-action return, having Mulgrew personally introduce such an expansive celebration of Star Trek's history is a fitting tribute to one of the franchise's most beloved captains. Considering just how much Star Trek has expanded over the past six decades, bringing its complicated chronology together in one comprehensive release is no small achievement, and this book is one of the most unique and creative methods of doing so we've seen thus far this year.

All told, Star Trek Timelines looks like the perfect way to round out one of the busiest anniversary years in franchise history.
