Alexander Zverev Gives Shoutout to Trinity Rodman After US Open Win

Nicole Kidman, Daughter Faith Margaret Serve Up Style at US Open 2026

Alexander Zverev may have served up some drama.

After the German tennis pro gave his rival Ben Shelton’s girlfriend Trinity Rodman a shoutout during his winner’s speech at the US Open Men's Championship Sept. 13, fans had mixed feelings about the acknowledgment.

“Trinity, I thought you had a game today, no?” Zverev said following his four-set victory over Shelton. “Well done to you as well. You’re the lucky charm. Not today, but usually."

But Rodman, who plays for the Washington Spirit in the National Woman’s Soccer League, seemed to be a good sport about the jab.

The 24-year-old could be seen laughing in response to Zverev’s comments in a video shared to ESPN’s TikTok account before nodding her head to agree that she wasn’t feeling particularly lucky that day. After all, her Washington Spirits also lost 3-0 to the Boston Legacy FC hours earlier. (And yes, she traveled all the way from D.C. to New York City after her game to catch the end of Shelton’s match.)

The internet, however, wasn’t quite as forgiving about the lighthearted jab.

Indeed, one user commented under the TikTok, “Kinda rude,” while another questioned, “Why would he say that?"

Meanwhile, another tennis fan wondered, “What is his problem.”

But the reactions weren’t completely negative, as some fans felt the comments pointed to the 29-year-old’s natural charisma.

“He hit her with his wit and charm,” one fan wrote, while another added, “Just became a fan of this guy.”

Shelton, 23, and Rodman began dating in March 2025. And as the young tennis star made his mark on the 2026 US Open, Rodman has been there to cheer him on every step of the way, despite her own jam-packed soccer schedule.

And one way she’s been showing up for her guy is with her fashion choices. In fact, for her boyfriend’s Sept. 2 match, Rodman—daughter to NBA legend Dennis Rodman and his ex-wife Michelle Moyer—donned an “I love my boyfriend” T-shirt to cheer him on.

She captioned a photo of the look on Instagram Sept. 4, “My turn to serve.”

And while Shelton’s 2026 US Open run didn’t end how he’d hoped, every moment was made more special with the soccer star by his side.

“You know, we've made a lot of sacrifices for each other. We've traveled the world to try to support each other when we can,” Shelton said of Rodman during a recent press conference. “Means a lot, and that's why I'm out here doing this. That's why I enjoy it so much, and that's what I want to get over the line for. So, yeah, super grateful for all the people that I have around me.”
