BJP targets Congress, set to ramp up campaign against opposition

BJP launched nationwide protests against Kharge's remark on PM Modi's father, with Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh set to join padayatras

NEW DELHI: BJP Monday targeted Congress through countrywide protests over its president Mallikarjun Kharge’s objectionable reference to PM Narendra Modi’s father and is set to step up its counter-offensive against the opposition as part of its ‘Save democracy, remove anarchy’ campaign.

Its leading faces, including Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, are tipped to be part of the stir after INDIA bloc’s rally on November 1.BJP sources said Shah is likely to join a padayatra in Telangana on November 2 and in Haryana on November 5, while Singh will join a similar campaign in Bhopal on November 4.

A day after Kharge’s “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” outburst at a Congress event in Patna, BJP organised demonstrations in states across the country, including outside Kharge’s residence.

“This is not merely an insult to an individual or a family, but an attack on the dignity of Indian politics,” Rajnath said.Congress is frequently setting a new low in politics, he said, slamming the party for justifying Kharge’s remarks instead of offering an apology.BJP chief Nitin Nabin also lashed out at Congress and said such a comment from its chief reflects its growing ideological bankruptcy.
