Sivasangari Subramaniam heaped praise on India’s Anahat Singh even as the latter crashed out in the semifinals of the Silicon Valley Open squash.
“Anahat is very talented and so dangerous,” Sivasangari, who had recently beaten the teen sensation in the Asian Games final as well, said.
On Friday, Anahat took the first game but eventually lost 1-3 (11-5, 6-11, 4-11, 7-11) to the World No. 4 in a clash which lasted 37 minutes.
“She’s definitely amongst the top girls now, and she’s still so young. Coming into today’s match, I started a bit slow but got myself back into it, and I’m glad with the way I finished it,” Sivasangari added.
The third-seeded Malaysian further analysed the tie, saying, “Obviously it’s easy to fall into her game; it wasn’t really a ‘who’s playing the best shot’ kind of game, but I needed to find my accuracy, and once I found that, the game changed. I could have done a few things a bit better, but overall I’m happy with the performance.”
This is the Indian’s third loss to Subramaniam on the PSA Tour and fourth defeat overall.
