SPFL invites bids for new Scottish Premiership TV deal

Translate

The SPFL expects "strong interest" after inviting broadcasters to bid for the UK rights to show Scottish Premiership matches from the 2029-30 campaign.

The league's current five-year, £150m agreement with Sky Sports, which allows the broadcaster to show up to 60 games a season, began last term and will end at the conclusion of the 2028-29 campaign.

Premier Sports can also show up to 22 Scottish top-flight fixtures per season, but the SPFL says it is "flexible about the number of games that it shows live in future".

"Securing strong broadcast partnerships is an essential element in maintaining a balanced and sustainable income mix for the SPFL and its clubs," said SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster.

"We anticipate strong interest from broadcasters in what is widely recognised as one of Europe's most exciting national league competitions."

The SPFL confirmed that a separate contract with Premier Sports covering broadcast and sponsorship rights for the Scottish League Cup is in place until at least the end of the 2030-31 season and will not be affected by this announcement.
